Philippine Fashion Week: Holiday 2012 - Chris Diaz

Mostly made of laces and velvet, Chris Diaz's share on this season of Philippine Fashion Week presented a classic take on this all-time favorite fabrics and pieces. With beaded accents that brought back that evening gown-ish feel that we used to see back in the 80's, Chris Diaz collection has been part of this Holiday 2012 show.

On this Holiday 2012 collection, Diaz payed around the deep colors of red, green and blue. The feminine side of his collection were mostly shown on the bead works that are present in most of the outfits. The shimmer that the velvet clothes also added some sort of impact to the old 80's feel.

Philippine Fashion Week: Holiday 2012 - Avel Bacudio

For Holiday 2012, Philippine Fashion royalty Avel Bacudio presented a monochromatic-medieval outfits that give a deeper look to his appreciation on architecture and fashion. With metal accents that somehow reminded me of chastity-belt and pads, Bacudio shared a modern grandeur outfits perfect for men and women.

As expected, the choice of fabric and the tailoring were immaculate - a collection worth seeing and worth having for the upcoming season.

Few more sleeps and few more wake ups til we finally feel the UNIQLO fever here in Manila, but before we head to their first store, which is located at the 2nd Level of SM Mall of Asia, let's get ourselves familiar first to the these faces that will represent the brand here in country...

SY 2012-13 kicks off with Brigada Eskwela

In its fulfillment to share and to upgrade the education system in our country, DepED, together with some private organizations and local communities, launched the most anticipated and heart-warming school kick-off activity of the year - the Brigada Eskwela!

Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week enjoins the whole country by doing repairs, maintenance and clean-up of public schools prior to the opening of classes. With its three prorities (1) make the school ready for the students and teachers (2) engage the participation of community stakeholders in education and (3) revive the bayanihan spirit, DepED, private companies and local communities assure that by doing this and participating on this simple project, we can give our kids on public schools a more promising and fun-learning school year.

Be the Next Electrolux Wok-A-Holic Kitchen Star!

This year, as the exciting cooking competition of the trusted home appliance, Electrolux, continues, 12 participants will have the chance to be part of a culinary boot camp and compete for the title of Wok-A-Holic Kitchen Star!

In line with its 10th Anniversary, Electrolux is once again calling on all culinary enthusiasts as they launch the 3rd Wok-A-Holic cooking competition in the country.

Dengue-Lamok Levels Up!

Many people believe that dengue-lamok only bite during the day. This makes them feel more complacent at night, as they think there’s no more risk of dengue infection. But on the recent study done by Dr. Barabara Caoili, Ph. D. of Philippine Association of Entomologists (PAE), it showed that this deadly infection has level up to a day-time  threat to an all-day threat.

During the launch of Green Cross' newest product - Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion - Dr. Caoili informed everyone of the recent advancement of this deadly infection that's been taking millions of lives all over the world.  In her study, which is funded by Green Cross, Dr. Caoili identified one more dengue-lamok killer that was spotted from noon time til night. Called Aedes Albopictus, this said dengue-lamok attacks its prey during those times, giving a more aggressive dengue virus to its victims.

The way her clothes fill the runway with so much fun and excitement, I know that one day she will snatch all of the world's attention and love as her designs displays more uniqueness and style.

Now, Happy Andrada is taking Filipino talent farther across the globe to greater heights. With her recent award from Miami Beach International Fashion Week - the Emerging Designer of the Year 2012, Happy bested hundreds of entries from 25 different countries bringing another pride to our country.

With hundreds of milk tea stores sprouting from one corner to another here in  the metro, who wouldn't go gaga over these delights? With its sweet and mild appeal to our palette, plus its good effect on our health, milk tea is indeed the "drink" of the year! But how do you really choose your milk tea? How sure are you that it's the best kind?

Last weekend, I was invited to witness the launch of the newest milk tea brand in town, A-Gantea. Located at the ground level of Greenbelt 2 in Makati City, A-Gantea takes pride of their selected tea leaves, which are from Taiwan’s Ali Mountain.
