LUNA SEA Brings Back Iconic Rock Festival

Legendary Japanese rock band LUNA SEA held the grand finale of their long-running 35th-anniversary ERA TO ERA tour on Sunday, February 23, with a show titled 35th ANNIVERSARY TOUR ERA TO ERA -THE FINAL EPISODE-LUNATIC TOKYO 2025-Kurofuku Gentei GIG-. On the previous date, February 22, they held an incredible joint performance with their longtime musical cohorts GLAY, titled The Millennium Eve 2025. Both shows were held at the massive Tokyo Dome, with triumphant sets from LUNA SEA that burned bright.

The finale show on Sunday was LUNA SEA’s first solo concert at Tokyo Dome in around 15 years, and was a life-or-death performance befitting the show’s concept, “a night of resolve”. As the band members left the stage, the venue returned to darkness, and a video began playing on the screen, as the audience looked on with bated breath. When a familiar skull logo finally appeared, the entire dome erupted in screams of joy.

Yes, the video announced the third edition of the legendary rock event LUNATIC FEST., which was last held in 2018. LUNATIC FEST. 2025 will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, just outside Tokyo, as a two-day event on Saturday November 8 and Sunday November 9, 2025.

Meanwhile, at Saturday’s show, The Millennium Eve 2025, LUNA SEA performed with their old friends GLAY for the first time in 25 years. First, GLAY performed fan favorites such as ‘Kuchibiru’, ‘Pure Soul’, ‘HOWEVER’ and ‘Yuuwaku’, followed by LUNA SEA with a series of hits such as ‘STORM’, ‘IN SILENCE’, ‘I for You’ and ‘ROSIER’.

During the encore, the two bands mixed and matched their members for renditions of LUNA SEA’s ‘TRUE BLUE’ with TERU from GLAY on vocals, and GLAY’s ‘BELOVED’ sung by RYUICHI from LUNA SEA. The members of both bands all performed together for the grand finale ‘WISH’, truly a dream collaboration for fans of Japanese rock music.

The joint performance with GLAY coincided with the 35th anniversary of LUNA SEA’s formation. RYUICHI commented, “A lot of things have happened for both of us since that time when so many bands were created, but I’m thankful we can stand on stage together at Tokyo Dome again. GLAY and LUNA SEA will continue to lead the scene!” Everyone in the audience on those two miraculous nights surely felt this sentiment in their hearts.

More details on LUNATIC FEST. 2025 are coming soon. In the meantime, let’s all imagine what this awesome event might bring.
