The King And I, soon at Resorts World Manila

Last weekend, together with hundreds of personalities from media and other fields, we were given an opportunity to get a glimpse on this year's most anticipated stage play of Resorts World Manila - The King and I. A story that shares to the world the very rich and colorful Kingdom of Siam, this exciting and romantic show will be starting this September 15 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila.

After setting a record-breaking 128 shows for its sophomore offering The Sound Of Music, which was shown from October 2011 to May 2012, Resorts World Manila aims to take it up a notch higher by providing theatre patrons a truly superlative production that features a stellar all-Filipino cast led by inimitable theatre legend Leo Tavarro Valdez, and the beautiful stage great Monique Wilson, who plays King Mongkut and Anna respectively

Staging at the grandest and most state-of-the-art theater in the country, The King and I also boasts of promising new sets of production props' lights, sound, and video technologies and even the most exquisitely designed wardrobe helmed by no less than Philippine fashion icon Rajo Laurel.

And on the Preview and Press Conference hosted by Resorts World Manila last Saturday, they took us to that lovely world filled with colorful outfits, stunning production design and lovely music that reminded us how  respect and love should be on top of all.

The story of The King and I is one of the most influential stories of all time. Originally Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II took the story to a musical stage play, which first seen at Broadway's St. James Theater back in 1951.

And since Resorts World Manila staying true to its reputation as the primary venue for superb world-class entertainment, the country’s one-stop, non-stop haven for superlative thrills, they are offering their third theater production with this story.

Fans are assured to be enticed by the fresh take of prolific stage authority Direk Freddie Santos on the beloved classic, as he spices up the immortal tale of Anna and the King of Siam, complementing the dreamy scoring courtesy of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar. 

I was able to record a number form the said preview, I hope you'll get excited to watch this as I was while watching this right in front of me.

The King and I will also features Bo Cerrudo and Sheila Valderrama as alternates for King Mongkut and Anna, Gina Respall and Apple Chui as Lady Thiang, Tanya Manalang and Marian Santiago as Tuptim, and Lorenz Martinez and Floyd Tena as Lun Tha, among others.
