Resorts World presents The Sound of Music

From one grand show to another grand show, Resorts Worlds Manila keeps the theatrical-love burning as they recently raised their curtains for a series of shows that features one of the world's most famous family in one of the world's most loved story, The Sound of Music.

From October 15 to December 1, you can catch this amazing theatrical show that features the country's best of the best ,together with its creative team led by its director Roxanne A. Lapus and its musical director Maestro Rodel Colmenar with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.

I was one of the lucky people who had a chance to see it first, and me, being a fan of its original movie version, had a really great time that night. I also liked its cartoon version that was shown at a local TV channel, but of course, there's something about Julie Andrews that you'll always love. Hehe.

On this stellar creation that is co-teamed up by Francis Libiran for costumes, Mio Infante for production design and Paul Soriano for Video producer, Resorts World offers something that has a touch of technology and ingenuity, which I'm sure non-theater and theater lovers alike will enjoy.

One of the most applauded feature that this show has its use of a larger than life NPAT's LED screen that is touted as the largest in Southeast Asia. This one really wowed the audience as it gave a somehow 3D-ish effect on the play. I love how they managed to create something like this for a theater show, and I believe that after this, all of the other theater shows will imitate this. Hehe.

As for the casts, the powerhouse talents was led by theater veteran Joanna Ampil, who will play the role of Maria Rainer, the young pstulant whi is appointed governess of the seven children of widower Captain Georg von Trapp, played by another theater veteran, Audie Gemora. Cris Villonco will be Ampil's alternate for the role of Maria, while corporate executive Ed Feist and international theater and concert performer Jon Joven will be Gemora's alternates for the role of Captain von Trapp.

As for the seven lovely von Trapp children, Tanya Manalang with Rachel Coates as her alternate will play the role of Liesl, the eldest of the von Trapp siblings. Then there's Paolo Luis Ocampo and Luis Nieto who will be alternating for the character of Friedrich, Daniella Sanghio and Rebecca Coates for the character of Louisa, Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez's daughter, Atasha, together with Janina Punzalan and Allesandra Allado will take alternates for the character of Brigitta, Roberto Sison, Anton Posadas and Justin Sian for the character of Kurt, Alida Moberg, Paula Therese Zamesa, Sofia Yabyabin for the character of Marta and Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi's daughter, Alexa, and Shanti Gleason for the character of the youngest and cutest of them all, Gretl.

There's also the character of Mother Abbess, which will be portrayed by Pinky Marquez and alternated by Sheila Francisco, Max Detweiler, which will be playd by Miguel Faustman and Robbie Guevarra, and finally, the captain's fiancee, Baroness Elsa Schraeder that will portrayed by Pinky Amador and Lynn Shermann.

Other casts includes Marvin Ong and Bryan Homecillo will play Liesl's love interest Rolf, Debraliz Valasote as Frau Schmidt, Eduardo Bouffard as Franz the Butler, Lorenz Martinez as Herr Zeller, Jennifer Villegas and Carla Guevara as Sister Berthe, Sarah Facuri and Pamela Imperial as Sister Margaretta and Jillian Peña and Maxine Sian as Sister Sophia.

I was amazed as how the seven children acted. They were like professional and all, and the best of all, they were al so cute on stage, singing and dancing.

The stage design was superb as you can see on the photos. The lighting was great too. The music was lovely, but I think Resorts World should work on their audio facilities. All in all, I really, really had a great time. I would love to watch it again.

This is really a family must-see before the Yuletide season hits the city. It a show that you and your family will never forget. And probably, would love to watch it over and over again. Hehe.

Prices for this stage show are Php1,000.00 for Balcony, Php1,300.00 for Deluxe (right, left and center), Php1,700.00 for Premier (right, left and center) and Php2,000.00 for the VIP section.

The show starts at 8 o'clock in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday, but they also have the 3 o'clock shows on Saturday and Sunday.
