The Metro Manila Traffic Navigator Launch

Now, all the commuters and motorists can see what's in store for them in the traffic situation on this uber busy metropolis with the latest and first-ever digitized traffic information system that will surely improve our lives - the Metro Manila Traffic Navigator.

Brought to us by now one of the leading networks in the country, TV5, through the use of their 5-month old online new portal, InterAksyon.com, and by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Metro Manila Traffic Navigator will let us see the traffic situation around the metropolis in "real-time" over the Internet.

On it's press launch last August 1, hosted by Paolo Bediones and  Cherie Mercado, online and print media were given exact details about this great news. With so far 6 major roads in the metro included in this digitized traffic information system, all of us can get a quick view of the traffic situation in EDSA, C5, Quezon Avenue, España, Roxas Boulevard and South Luzon Expressway (SLEx).

According to TV5 News and Information Head Luchi Cruz-Valdes, this wonderful idea was brought to their attention by their people who are manning the traffic situation in Metro Manila, and as part of the network's answer to President Aquino's call for Public-Private Partnership (PPP), they made checking the traffic situation in these busy point easier and more handy. This idea aims to give the commuters and motorists an instant control of their hours and lives.

Atty. Roby Alampay,  InterAksyon.com Editor-in-Chief, said that they are still planning to acquire different routes so as to commuters and motorists can truly benefit from this state-of-the-art mobile gadget application. But with its no less than 67 intersections coverage and with a 5- to 15-minute updates, the said application, since its release last June 29, is currently on its 6,000 mark of users - drivers and commuters who have been using this application.

Carlo Ople, TV5 Newmedia Head, demonstrated to us how to use this unique application through our mobile and I honestly enjoyed looking at those red, green and yellow lights that are indication the traffic situation on every key intersection.

It is so easy to use, really! Just log on to www.interaksyon.com or to http://mmdatraffic.interaksyon.com and you'll see there these lines that will show you where the traffic is heavy and where the traffic is light or moderate. The application also features Line View and Google Map View that will give us a clear and finer view of the traffic situation in the metro.

It was really fun! I got to try it on my Samsung Android phone, and even though I'm usually travelling via LRT, I bookmarked it because I'm sure that this will be a great help to me in the near future.

Also present at the press launch is MMDA Chariman Atty. Francis Tolentino who gave a remarkable closing speech.

Metro Manila Traffic Navigator can run and is optimized for any PC-based unit and mobile browser. It can run on Wintel computers, Macintosh, Linux machines, iPhones, iPads, Android phones, Windows Mobile, Opera and other web browsers installed on your mobile gadgets.

Thank you TV5 and MMDA for this!
This only proves that there are really people out there who truly cares! ^_^
Cheers!
