BPI's Baby BEA!

Last weekend I got to attend a very exciting baptismal.

Exciting - YES! Because on the said baptismal a fun game was held where the invited "ninongs" and "ninangs" had to race to win exciting gifts from the parents of the newly baptized baby. Her name is BEA and her parents are the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).

BEA which stand for BPI Express Assists was baptized and was presented to the media last Saturday with a fun and exciting program that really took our breath away - literally!

BEA is a gift from BPI to its faithful customers for their 160th anniversary. And last Saturday, to let invited media personnel to have a feel as to how fast and how efficient BEA is, a race was held to test the efficiency of BEA and enjoy this amazing gift from BPI.

On the said race, 4 teams consisted of 4 members were drawn to compete with one another. They were asked to form a line with each of them having this "Amazing Race" kind of envelope. Inside the envelope was the tasked or banking transaction that they have to perform. Of course, it has something to do with BEA since she is the star of that day.

Once they know their task, they have to rush to BEA, key in their easy task, run towards the counter to validate their transaction and go to the finish line.

Nobody thought that it would be that fun, so the moment our emcee shouted the go signal, everyone was on their toes and got so excited.

At first, all the teams were even, but once when we noticed that the tension kicked it, everyone go so excited that they had almost forgot what they have to do. But, to be honest, the machine looks SO EASY to use, and in no sweat, your banking transaction will be done in less than 160 seconds.

A truly magical banking experience that you'd love, promise!

According to BPI Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Banking Group Nabbie Alejo, BEA was born out of BPI's aim to provide an easier and more convenient banking experience for their clients. With a capability to deal with single and bulk transactions, BPI is expecting serve their clients, both BPI and BPI Family Bank clients, with 500 BEA machines by the end of August 2011.

BPI Team also said that though the number of BEA machines depends on the size of the branch, a client can expect at least 2 BEAs in every branch.

They cleared that they didn't create BEA to replace human tellers, but they've created these machines to serve their client faster and better.

BEA is brought to us by BPI and Wincor Nixdorf, and it already won a Best Branch Automation and Networking Award at the 5th Asian Banker Technology Implementation Awards Programme, which was held at The Hong Kong Jockey Club last April 2011.

May this great banking innovation be a start of a healthier and wealthier country!
Mabuhay kayo, BPI! And Happy 160th anniversary!
