...on Kris Aquino's My Heart's Journey

It's been a week now, and I'm still listening to Kris Aqunio's latest album My Heart's Journey. I'd be lying if I say that I'm a fan of her and I bought her album. It was actually given to us during her presscon at Anabel's last week. It was part of the souvenir to us. I was invited there to cover the presscon and it was my first time to cover an album launch, so I'm not really familiar with what will happen that afternoon.

At first, when the album was handed to me, I was just like, okay, thanks! I heard some of the songs featured in this album on ASAP that Sunday so I'm quite expecting that I'd like the album. But when I went home and listened to the whole album... I just didn't liked it, I loved it!

Consisted of 15 beautiful tracks, and 7 phases in where Kris shared some heart-warming thoughts and stories about her life, buying this album is somehow worth every peso.

I know some of you would be laughing on this blog, but let me tell you this, wait til you hear the singles from KC Concepcion, Christian Baustista, Jed Madela, Karylle, Gail Blanco, Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha, ZsaZsa Padilla, Nina and my favorite singer from this album Toni Gonzaga, I know that you'll be coming to me to say that yeah, this album is good.

Kris' thoughts were naturally all-out. Well, her life is an open book, but since she has to control her emotions and mouth in respect to her brother these past few days, for those who are wondering what happened to her and to James, I think, this album might give you some hint. ^_^

Back to the album, the songs are all great. I'm saying this because I've been listening to it all-day long. Hahaha! For almost two weeks now! Hahaha! And as I've said I love Toni's rendition of God Bless the Broken Road. I didn't expect that Kris has this thing on this kind of songs, and hearing Toni's version, it was simply the best - heartwarming, very comforting and perfect to be this album's first song.

KC's rendition of What About Love was just okay for me. I still prefer the original one.

As for Christian's rendition of Love Moves in Mysterious Ways, I think it was good. I mean, with a song which was owned by Nina when she revived it, reviving it would be dreadful. But Christian gave a good rendition, kinda upbeat and easy to sing a long. Good job!

As for Jed's renditions of Only Love, To Where You Are, Changes in My Life and Healing,  the one that I liked the most is Changes in My Life. I've been a fan of Jed's since the time I saw him perform live. The guy is really, really good, no wonder Kris picked him to sing most of the parts in her fifth album.

It was my first time to see and hear Gail Blanco, and up until now, I'm still wondering why Kris picked her to be part of this album. I'm not saying that she ain't that good, but during the presscon, I didn't feel her. Her rendition was kinda okay but, I think, it wasn't sung from the heart. (Ooops, sorry if I'm being too Simon Cowell here. ^_^)

As for Karylle's rendition of It Must Have Been Love, the songs fits perfectly to her voice, and probably to her too. ^_^ I love Karylle! ^_^

And lastly, as for the divas Nina, Zsazsa Padilla, Lani Misalucha and Regine Velasquez's renditions of truly wonderful love songs, they are the best and I'm happy that they are also part of this album, because they gave this album that interesting touch that we are always looking for in an OPM album.

I got to record some of the performances during the presscon, here, I hope you'd like their renditions. ^_^
