Pizza Hut and Taco Bell's Very Generous Grant to UN’s WFP

It was last November 2010 when the world’s number pizza chain Pizza Hut and Taco Bell launched their fourth annual World Hunger Relief campaign – the company’s tool in extending a helping hand to United Nations’ World Food Programme.

In this year’s campaign, the two companies generously granted the said beneficiary a whooping Php4.5 Million to support its school feeding program in Mindanao.

The said donation, which is 114 percent higher than the sum raised by the same campaign last year came from the 60-day fundraising campaign of these two restaurants.

From November 01, 2010 to December 31, 2010, Pizza Hut customers who got to donate Php40.00 for this cause received a Pizza Huts’ endorser Diether Ocampo’s autographed Christmas Card. While, those who ordered the WFP Bundle Feast or the Taco Bells Grande combo meal during the campaign period, Php10.00 of their bill was contributed to this great cause.

During the Php4.5 Million check turnover, which was held at Pizza Hut, SM Cubao - Araneta Center, Philippine Pizza, Inc. Chief Operating Officer Lars Peterson thanked their very supportive and generous customers for helping them achieve the said amount. While celebrity endorser Diether Ocampo shared his wonderful and tear-jerker experiences during their reaching out campaigns to the conflict-affected areas of Central Mindanao.

Here’s a clip of what I witnessed on the said turnover event:

In behalf of World Food Programme, Mr. Stephen Anderson, Country Director and Representative of United Nations World’s Food Programme – Philippines was so grateful to receive the overwhelming support and help of Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. He was also thankful to the very strong partnership and commitment of the two companies in not just raising awareness about the issue of hunger but also by directly ensuring that the conflict-affected areas of Mindanao will have nutritious meals in schools to be able to finish their education.

Lately, I’ve been attending some advocacy events and I can say that with all the goodness that I’ve been seeing, may it be in their own small way to help a community or in their unimaginable concept in building a better country or world, my heart is overwhelmed and very, very delighted to be a part (through blogging about it) of it!

Thank you and congratulations to Pizza Hut and Taco Bell! May God bless you more!
And to the volunteers and supporters of World Food Programme, kudos and let’s keep it up!

Always be a blessing to others!
