I Don't Like Mondays. Wipes Instagram Clean, Letting “CLUB FRIDAY” Take Over Ahead of Mystery Announcement
I Don't Like Mondays. spent the past week making fans wonder what exactly was going on.
Just after wiping their official Instagram feed clean at midnight on 12 May, a mysterious nightlife space called “CLUB FRIDAY” began appearing across the feed. Over the course of a week, the band’s social media transformed into a rolling narrative – exterior shots of a sleek venue, clips of crowds dancing to I Don't Like Mondays. tracks, and fragmented posts that blurred the line between promotion and story. Fans quickly began speculating whether the space was real, with questions like “Is this place real?” circulating across social platforms.
“CLUB FRIDAY” serves as the entry point into the band’s 2026 creative theme: “the grown-up Friday night”, setting up the announcement of their 2026 Japan tour, FRIDAY MOOD JAPAN TOUR 2026.
Fresh off their TOXIC ASIA TOUR 2026 in April, which saw strong engagement across multiple cities including Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Seoul, the band continues to build on that momentum, further strengthening their growing international audience. While the newly announced FRIDAY MOOD JAPAN TOUR 2026 currently focuses on Japan, additional Asia stops may also be announced at a later stage.
The Tokyo-based band has steadily built a reputation that stretches beyond Japan, blending sleek pop production, rock elements and nightlife-inspired aesthetics into a sound that sits outside the country’s conventional band scene. Their track “PAINT”, used as a theme song for the TV anime ONE PIECE, has surpassed 36 million cumulative streams and reached listeners across 165 countries and territories.
“CLUB FRIDAY” also marks the beginning of a larger 2026 rollout centered around the theme of “the grown-up Friday night”. More details tied to this creative concept are expected to be revealed in the months ahead, hinting at a wider unfolding chapter for the band.
The newly announced tour begins on 3 October in Sapporo before heading to Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, Okayama, Takamatsu and Sendai, before wrapping up in Tokyo on 5 December. Across 8 cities and 11 performances, the tour is expected to draw around 10,000 attendees.
At the same time as the tour announcement, fan club ticket pre-sales also opened, prompting immediate reactions online from fans who had been following the week-long rollout.
More than just a tour reveal, “CLUB FRIDAY” turned social media into part of the experience itself – building curiosity first, before finally opening the doors.
