Chilli Beans. Keep their Fire Burning with “Himawari ひまわり”
Hot on the heels of their latest EP “the outside wind”, released on 25 June, genre-fluid trio Chilli Beans. keep the fire burning with their new digital single “Himawari ひまわり”.
The track has been chosen as the ending theme for the reboot of Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube (地獄先 ぬ~べ~), the beloved supernatural anime making its long-awaited return to screens starting 2 July, airing weekly on TV Asahi’s 24-station national network. Known for its huge manga legacy with over 30 million copies sold globally, Nube was a household name across Southeast Asia in the ’90s — and its comeback is one fans won’t want to miss.
“Himawari ひまわり” (which means “sunflower”) is a nostalgic and emotional slow-burn inspired by the anime’s school setting — with vivid imagery of twilight hallways, fading bells and quiet strength. Written, composed and arranged by the band themselves, it balances the weight of protection and vulnerability, echoing the story’s bond between teacher and student.
“We pictured the feeling of walking home at sunset,” says the band. “The strength of the teacher is in the sound, and the lyrics express the student’s quiet trust. It’s a new sound for us, and we’re proud to contribute to Nube’s iconic world.”
With “Himawari ひまわり”, Chilli Beans. offer a track that’s tender, timeless, and built to linger long after the final bell rings.
