Chilli Beans. Unleashes Explosive New Single “pain” Ahead of Upcoming EP

Fresh off the success of their last single “tragedy” – which earned widespread acclaim and made waves on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart – Chilli Beans. return with another hard-hitting release: “pain”, out now. The single comes ahead of the band’s upcoming 5th EP “the outside wind”, which is set for release on 25 June (Wed).

“pain” captures what everyone carries but rarely voices – the hurt that comes with simply being alive. Built around that raw theme, the track marks a new chapter for Chilli Beans., revealing a sharper, more explosive sonic edge. The message woven into the song – “Feel the sound now. Just that alone. And maybe you can stand back up again” – makes this a track that’s not just heard, but felt.

From the very first note, “pain” hits with pounding instrumentation, emotional urgency, and a kind of cathartic chaos that’s tailor-made for live shows. It doesn’t sugarcoat the human condition, it embraces it.

And in true Chilli Beans. fashion, that emotional weight is carried by a band that thrives on DIY spirit and total creative freedom. Composed of Moto (Vo), Maika (Ba/Vo), and Lily (Gt/Vo), the trio handle everything from songwriting and arrangement to visual direction, crafting their genre-blending world with a mix of vulnerability, grit, and style.

Since their formation in 2019, Chilli Beans. have carved out a sound that refuses to be boxed in. Their 2021 hit “lemonade” topped Spotify Japan’s Viral Top 50, and 2023’s “rose feat. Vaundy” hit No.1 twice on Billboard JAPAN’s Heatseekers Songs chart. That same year, their track “Raise” was selected as the ending theme for the One Piece anime, while “I like you” was featured as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Toki o Kakeru na, Koibitotachi.”

In 2024, they sold out their first-ever solo headline show at the Nippon Budokan, and later this year, they’ll launch their “open my mind” Hall Tour across Japan. In 2025, the momentum continues with the nationwide “upside down tour”, covering 7 cities with 8 performances.

And fans won’t have to wait long to see them live beyond Japan. Chilli Beans. are set to bring their high-voltage live energy to Summer Sonic 2025 and have just been announced for Clockenflap 2025 – two of Asia’s most iconic music festivals.

With “pain”, the band continues to evolve and prove why they’re one of the most compelling alt-pop forces emerging from Japan today.
