Released January 10, the song is also being used as the ending theme for the second season of Japanese hit anime series ‘The Apothecary Diaries’, which began airing the same day. The song, whose title translate as “recipe for happiness”, was also included on a new promotional video for the anime show a few days earlier, prompting comments from fans in Japan and overseas such as “The lyrics and video are a perfect match – it's the best, and I’ve been listening to it over and over again”, and “HIRAIDAI’s singing voice is so sad it made me cry”.

‘The Apothecary Diaries’ is based on a hugely popular novel & manga series by author Hyuganatsu and illustrator Toko Shino (Hero Bunko/Imagica Infos). Following a young woman in a fictional Asian country who uses her skills as a poison taster to solve mysteries for the royal court, the novel & manga series has sold over 38 million copies. The first season of the anime adaptation began airing in October 2023 and was an immediate smash hit, consistently ranking highly in viewership charts for various streaming platforms and winning the Special Award at the TVer Awards 2023. The second season began broadcasting on January 10 for two consecutive half-seasons.

"I am thrilled and deeply grateful to be part of the wonderful world of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto. When I write songs, I often draw from deeply personal emotions, and I feel that "SHIAWASE NO RECIPE" beautifully blends my feelings with the bittersweet, hesitant dynamic between Maomao and Jinshi portrayed in the story," HIRADAI shared. "As the plot continues to unfold with breathtaking twists, I hope the song serves as a moment of calm reflection while leaving viewers excited about what lies ahead. I sincerely hope you enjoy the ending theme to the end," he added.

The ending theme ‘Shiawase no Recipe’ depicts the relationship between series protagonist Maomao, the pharmacist’s daughter with an abnormal obsession with poison and medicine, and the handsome and mysterious eunuch Jinshi, told from Jinshi’s perspective. This heartwarming song allows you to feel the lingering aftertaste of the anime series’ human drama.

A version of the anime ending with the credits removed premiered on YouTube on January 11, the perfect way to enjoy the song with footage from the show.
