Director
Kim Jung-sik, Shin Mina, Kim Young-dae, Lee Sang-yi, and Han Ji-hyeon gathered
at a local press conference in Seoul to discuss their new series No Gain No
Love. The
rom-com centers around Son Hae-yeong (Shin Mina) who aims to avoid losing out
in every aspect of her life. She’s countered by her polar opposite Kim Ji-uk
(Kim Young-dae) who wants to avoid causing harm to others even at his own cost.
Another pairing is found in CEO Bok Gyu-hyun (Lee Sang-yi) who is jaded when it
comes to love and web novel author Nam Ja-yeon (Han Ji-hyeon) who is
inexperienced at love but excellent at concocting love stories. There’s so much
to look forward to with more characters, romances, heartwarming stories, and
fun. No Gain No Love will be available on Prime Video in the Philippines
and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. See why it’s a
must-watch series below.
1. Rom-Com Queen Shin Mina |
Shin Mina |
Renowned
rom-com queen Shin Mina is back after 2 years, and it’ll be her most refreshing
role yet. Her co-stars had nothing but praise and admiration for the star.
Director Kim Jung-sik shared, “I read the script with Shin Mina in mind. I
thought that she was the only one who could portray Hae-yeong.” Kim Young-dae added,
“It was an opportunity to work with Shin Mina, so I didn’t think twice and
signed on immediately. Since I first met Shin Mina, I was so nervous. I have
enjoyed her work since I was in high school. She’s so famous and beautiful.”
Han Ji-hyeon echoed these sentiments saying, “I was so excited and happy about
being able to meet Shin Mina. She’s my ideal type. It was such a beautiful
dream to be able to see her and act with her, after only being able to see her
on TV before.” So much praise and so much reason to watch Shin Mina in her
newest rom-com.

The
characters of No Gain No Love are unique and have interesting
backgrounds. Here’s what the actors have to say about their characters. Shin
Mina explained, “Hae-yeong is calculative and thinks about whether something
will result in a loss to her. She has her own set of rules, she’s smart, and
assertive.” Kim Young-dae introduced, “Ji-uk is a part-timer at a convenience
store. He’s the opposite of Hae-yeong in that he doesn’t want to cause harm to
others even if he incurs a loss.” Lee Sang-yi shared, “My character is the CEO
of KKULBEE Education. He doesn’t believe in love and dating due to his parents.
He wants to stay single.” Lastly, Han Ji-hyeon said, “Ja-yeon has never dated
and writes web novels that are rated R.” Each character is distinct and has
different stances on love and life compared to one another. Wherever you are
amongst the character spectrum, you’ll be able to see viewpoints both similar
and dissimilar to your own.
3. Diverse Relationships

With
such interesting characters, it only makes sense that their relationships will
be entertaining as well. Director Kim Jung-sik stated, “The characters are
really diverse. The office romance between Ji-uk who doesn’t want to cause harm
and Hae-yeong who doesn’t want to experience any loss. There’s also the love
story between third-generation chaebol Gyu-hyun who doesn’t have any love cells
and Ja-yeon who has been single her whole life but great at writing love
stories. There’s love stories that we haven’t seen before.” Lee Sang-yi added,
“There are a lot of fun and different kinds of relationships such as those who
are dating, married, family, siblings, etc. It’s fun seeing how these
relationships change. You can see a lot of different types of love. Please look
forward to it.” With rich character and relationship focused storytelling,
there will be a lot to enjoy.

A true
rom-com gem doesn’t skimp on the comedy but balances itself with relatability.
You won’t have to worry because No Gain No Love will feature the best of
both worlds. Shin Mina shared, “I was attracted to the humanistic part of the
relationships. I think it will move viewers a lot and they’ll be able to relate
easily. The script itself was so fun, honest, and cheeky. Hae-yeong’s lines
were so refreshing.” She further talked about how her character doesn’t hold
back and fires off expletives when there is a need to. Director Kim Jung-sik
called Shin Mina a comedy queen and further complimented her saying, “I was
surprised at how fun Shin Mina is. You’re going to be shocked. You’ll be able
to see a different side of her.” In addition, Lee Sang-yi teased about comedic
scenes he’ll have with his personal assistant saying, “My character’s
relationship with his personal assistant is like that of Tom and Jerry. They’re
like friends and have a really great relationship. My character is always
calling for him.”

now, on to the romance. No Gain No Love features a unique fake wedding
proposal from Hae-yeong in order for her to not lose out. Her proposal is all
the more wild when Ji-uk actually accepts. Things get complicated when Ji-uk
ends up working at the same place as Hae-yeong post fake wedding. Shin Mina
teased, “The fake wedding and office romance between my character and Kim Young-dae’s
is something to look out for. Lee Sang-yi and Han Ji-hyeon’s love story is
really fun too.” Furthermore, No Gain No Love will be available with
