Chris LaRocca Announces Debut Album ‘i cried my eyes out’ With New Single “because of u”

Multi-faceted talent Chris LaRocca today announced his debut album, 'i cried my eyes out', is set to arrive via Red Bull Records/Wonderchild on October 13. Accompanying the news, LaRocca delivered his next single, “because of u,” following a summer full of genre-bending gems that have cemented him as one of Toronto’s most exciting artists. Reminiscent of The Black Keys’ guitar riffs meets doo-wop rhythms, it’s a timeless track that sets the scene for a romantic slow dance at homecoming this fall.

LaRocca shares, “Making this song was a healing process. The first relationship I was ever in was a very significant part of my life, and I found that after it ended I was having a hard time letting go. This theme came out a lot in my earlier music - lots of songs about missing someone and feeling incomplete were inspired by this part of my life. However, as time went on and I found myself writing the songs for ‘i cried my eyes out’, I realized I had almost run out of things to say about this relationship. 

It was in that moment of realization that I reached the final chapter of that story. "because of u" was and will be the last song I write about that time of my life, and it's really just a thank you to the person I was involved with. It's about appreciating the lessons I learned throughout our relationship, and thanking her for showing me what love can be like, and how to love people going forward. 

The verses of the song reminisce on the early days of our relationship, being new to these feelings and learning how to navigate them, while the chorus jumps to the present, and celebrates how I’m able to move forward in my life with valuable lessons about love because of this person.”
