#AlexReviews: Balai Palmera Restaurant and Pasalubong Center in Silang, Cavite

As a Filipino, if there is one thing that most of us we’ll never get tired of, probably that is buying “pasalubong” for our loved ones whenever we took a vacation or visited a new place. Whether it’s a local or international trip, it became a sweet gesture amongst family and friends to receive some treats from someone who went out of town. If Westerns prefer receiving postcards, we, Pinoys, aside from key chains and other cute souvenir items, love giving away food and delicacies to share a bit of the wonderful experience we had in a new place we visited.

As tourist activities around the globe start to spur again, many tourist destinations are opening up to cater to the growing demand of space and relaxation among people who’ve been locked up in their home for months or even years now. Just last week, being a lakwatsero middle child that I am, I had a wonderful time discovering a new place in Silang, Cavite along with new restaurant and pasalubong center that will surely bring smile to my family - Balai Palmera Restaurant and Pasalubong Center!

PH Pride All the Way!
While Tagaytay remain a top tourist destination in the country, Silang, the neighboring municipality, is slowing getting attention from metro dwellers as accommodation, cafes, events place and restaurants are starting to get noticed in this humble town. With weather as same as Tagaytay, Silang is boast with so much greenery and equally affordable accommodation that offer reprieve to tourists local and international alike.

During our quick weekend getaway there, we were introduced to this new place that offers homey Filipino cuisines at an affordable price. Balai Palmera Restaurant is the first of its kind and currently nestled along the bustling Aguinaldo Highway, Bypass Road, San Vicente 2, Silang, Cavite.

Offering a modern take on Filipino dining experience from its interior to its young staff who also offers local entertainment, Balai Palmera offers a refreshing ambiance, well decorated with Palmera plants that are believed to bring good luck and air purifying benefits.

For its menu, and some of my favorites – I suggest that you try their Steamed Pampano, Silang Express, which is their take on Bicol’s Express, Laing Rolls, Kilawin, Kalderetang Baka, Kare-Kare, Garlic Butter Shrimp, Dinakdakan, Crispy Patacharon and Chicken Inasal.
Aside from the wondrous selection, which is basically the top most favorites from different regions in the country, Balai Palmera Restaurants offers amazing desserts that you can indulge while enjoying the cold weather, starting with the famous Buko Pie!

Share the Goodness!
What better way to share the wonderful dining experience at Balai Palmera Restaurant than by bringing home some of their decadent and comforting treats starting with their Buko Pie. If you think that this is just some ordinary Buko Pier, well, think again.

As they take pride of their Buko Pie bring 100% natural, with no preservatives at all, expect a more creamy, silky and balanced sweetened from their version. The crust was perfect cook, giving that flaky but not crumbling support to that oozing flavorful buko filling.

From their famous Buko Pie, one can also find enjoyment from their assortment of tarts, which include local flavors such as banana and buko. Pastries and bread lovers will also enjoy their Chocolate Almond Babka, Raisin Bread as well as Ensyamada, Silvanas, Tablea and Sans Rival Cake that complement well with local coffee and comforting ambiance of Silang, Cavite.

We were told that treats are DTI-approved and locally made and produced. For those who are looking for something that they can take abroad, they have Tahong Chips, Banana Chips, Mushroom Cracklings, Calamansito, Basimatsi, Coco Jam, Jacobina, Biscocho, Piaya Ube, and R&l Chicharon are well packed and made perfect for pasalubong locally or internationally.
