Game on as HBO's Game of Thrones Returns this April 13

As the whole world excitedly waits for the return of Game of Thrones, Manila fans can now have a chance to see, sit and have their pictures taken as HBO Asia brings the series’ iconic Iron Throne to Manila for the first time.

The highly anticipated Emmy®- and Golden Globe®-winning GAME OF THRONES returns to the Philippines same time as the U.S. for its new 10-episode 5th season – this Monday, April 13 at 9 a.m. on HBO, with a same day encore at 9 p.m.. New episodes debut weekly at the same time. This much awaited return series will also be available on HBO GO on the same day.

And as to add a little more excitement to the GAME OF THRONES’ April 13 world premiere, HBO Asia brings to Manila a life-sized replica of the Iron Throne, as seen in the series. It was at Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street last April 8-10 and it will be on display again in the next few days for fans to experience and be photographed in it.

Fans are encouraged to post pictures of themselves on the Iron Throne on Facebook and tag HBO Asia with the hashtag #HBOAsiaGOTS5 and #IronThronePh.

“GAME OF THRONES is the first of our many HBO Original series to premiere in Asia the same time as the U.S., and the first television series to debut worldwide in over 170 countries simultaneously,” said Angela Poh, HBO Asia’s Manager of Communications. “We’re so pleased bring this opportunity for our fans in the Philippines to experience the Iron Throne live. The series is such a huge global phenomenon and we know what a huge hit it is in the Philippines.”

Last April 8, selected members of the media, along with fans of the series, were invited to HBO Asia’s exclusive advanced screening of the series. This group in the Philippines was the first in Asia to watch the new episode of GAME OF THRONES, days ahead of its worldwide broadcast.

Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, GAME OF THRONES tells an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years, and only the lust for power is eternal.

This season, Jon Snow is struggling to balance the demands of the Night’s Watch with those of the newly arrived Stannis Baratheon, who styles himself the rightful king of Westeros. Meanwhile, Cersei scrambles to hold on to power in King’s Landing amidst the Tyrells and the rise of a religious group led by the enigmatic High Sparrow, while Jaime embarks on a secret mission. Across the Narrow Sea, Arya seeks an old friend and a fugitive Tyrion finds a new cause. And as danger mounts in Meereen, Daenerys finds that her tenuous hold on the city requires hard sacrifices.
