The KakaoTalk Philippine Launch

Mobile aficionados and KPOP lovers are really having a great time now as the Philippines finally welcomes one of Korea's top mobile social platform, KakaoTalk. And together with its grand launch that presented its powerful features, KakaoTalk Philippine launch also introduced their local ambassadors led by the country Pop Princess, Sarah Geronimo!


Joining the bandwagon of instant mobile messaging, KakaoTalk  offers a wider range of features that promises to share the best of best including business marketing, commerce, games, digital content, and fashion. KakaoTalk also serves as a stepping-stone for the growth of the mobile industry by creating a win-win mobile ecosystem where various stakeholders including business partners, developers, and content creators, can flourish together.


A free mobile instant messenger that allows users to send and receive 1:1 or group messages and voice calls for free, KakaoTalk service has already attracted more than 20 million users within a year and a half since launch, and currently boasts more than 110 million users around the world, as of September 2013. As many as 5.2 billion messages are sent daily, in forms of texts, photos, videos, contact information and even schedules.


And to highlight more of these content and services, KakaoTalk also added the fun and lovely characters of Sarah Geronimo, Alden Richards and Louise de los Reyes. During the launch, the three young artists graced the event sharing how they get to enjoy the newest mobile social platform in town.


And from Korea, KPOP band Big Bang's G-Dragon sent a video message thanking everyone for joining them on KakaoTalk and he is hoping that everyone would have a great time just the way they are enjoying this new mobile application.


To date, KakaoTalk is striving to become a service unbound by device or language; offering its service in 230 countries across all five major mobile operating systems. The service is also offered in 13 different languages; Korean, English, Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Chinese, Thai, Turkish, German, French, Portuguese, and Italian.

Driven by Kakao’s huge success in Korea, the company now aims to concretize its position on the global stage and expand its user base in foreign countries. Kakao has set global expansion as one of it’s key goals for 2013, and is driving aggressive business operations and marketing activities in regions of high potential such as Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Kakao is slowly entering the mobile game platform market, sharing information and networking with game companies at home and abroad. Beginning this year in Indonesia, Kakao formed strategic partnerships with local carriers and partners to provide a more localized service, tailored to the taste of Indonesian users.
