Lucky Chinatown and The New Face of Binondo

Look, here people of the world! They say the beauty of Manila was lost many years ago, but for a Manileno like me, Manila's beauty will always be there no matter how thick the smoke of the jeepneys or how tall the mountains of garbage. And now, with the magical hands of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, get ready to find your luck at the newest and sophisticated Lucky Chinatown!

The much-awaited mall in the center of Binondo is finally opening its doors. And with a large-scale urban renewal projection, the latest offering under the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls brand, is set to completely reinvent the leisure experience and offer a new standard of living in the community in Manila City.

And last August 15, 2012, an auspicious date in which favorable energies supported nearly any type of endeavor, according to Feng Shui masters, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls keeps the golden tradition of Manila's Chinatown, through a grand Chinese opening, which was attended my the society's top of the top including His Excellency President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

The president officially opened this five-level world-class shopping, dining and entertainment haven  through dotting the eye of the dragon, which is Chinese tradition done all over the world. Together with him are some of his cabinet members, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Megaworld's Chairman and CEO, Mr. Andrew Tan.

Right after marking the official opening, hosts Tessa Valdez-Prieto and Tim Yap, led the festivity through a stunning show, which includes Aerliasit performance and El Gamma Penumbra.

This opening show was capped by local and international fashion brands via a wonderful fashion show.  Among the international brands that call Lucky Chinatown home are Mango, Cache Cache, Gap, Aldo, Esprit, Clark’s, Payless, Sperry, Cotton On, Levi’s, Nautica, Sperry, Charles & Keith and Giordano.

Local brands such as Bench, Kashieca, Human, F&H, Bayo, Penshoppe, Oxygen, Plains and Prints and Maldita also take time to showcase their brand on this fashion show.

Lucky Chinatown features shops for the even younger set - a big draw for parents who want the best for their children. Establishments such as Baby Gap, Barbie & Elle, Baby Fashionistas, Bench Tweeners, Shoe Thing and Ollie & Co. all have something new and exciting to offer customers.

On the other side, occupying two levels of Lucky Chinatown is Metro Market Supermaket. A Cebu-based company’s new branch in Manila, the supermarket offers a large assortment of fresh produce, quality food products and everyday household items at reasonable prices.  Metro Supermarket is known for carrying a range of imported items and commodities, mostly Western, Asian and European brands, which will give all your needs.

A large variety of dining offerings to suit discriminating palates is what I think highlight the beauty of Lucky Chinatown. Restaurant roster includes Little Asia, Kirin Shechuan Dining, King Chef, Tao Yuan, Red Crab Alimango House, Healthy Shabu-Shabu, Uncle Cheffy, Kuse, Kogi Bulgogi, Sumo Sam, California Pizza Chicken and Bon Chon Chicken.

Four upscale movie theaters equipped with state-of-the-art audio and video equipment are all ready for  guests who looks for some exciting entertainment. These theaters are the first of their kind in Binondo.  Cinema 1 is the perfect place for romantic dates because of its unique Emperor Twin Seats, designed to make any moviegoer feel like royalty. The twin seats, designed to accommodate two people comfortably, boast extra leg room and a retractable middle armrest. The rest of the cinemas are 3D cinemas with Dolby Digital Surround Sound equipment.

And completing the Lucky Chinatown experience is the Chinatown Walk, which brings people back to Binondo’s glorious past. This Chinatown Walk showcases an exciting street concept that revives the famed old Chinatown with the choicest Chinese cuisine, furniture, jewelry and herbal medicines.

With Lucky Chinatown, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls brings fantastic new choices and experiences, inspiring lifestyles of all kinds in the heart of Binondo. Its unique blend of metropolitan modernity and heritage promise to enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike for years to come.
