Araneta Center Lights up Giant Christmas Tree with Coca-Cola

Since 1981, it’s been a great and wonderful tradition for Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City to start the Yuletide season with the lighting up of their giant Christmas tree. It is also the cue of the start of the Christmas rush at all malls in the area as well as the magical feel that this season brings.

And last November 12, I was one of the lucky few who got to witness and be part of this grandeur, magical ceremony together with the country’s hottest and upcoming stars and the country’s leading soda drink, Coca-Cola.

Last year, I got a chance to have my picture taken with the Araneta Center’s Giant Christmas Tree and it indeed shared a magical feel to me, not just because of its grandeur look that captivates every visitor in that area but also the magical and lively feel of the whole Araneta Center.

This place holds a very special part in me, because when I was young, this is where we usually spent our holiday weekend together with my other cousins and aunts. And now, that I’ve got invited to witness the Coca-Cola Caravan and Giant Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony up-close, it simply relives that wonderful and magical feeling that I miss so much.

Present at the Coca-Cola Caravan are Coca-Cola ambassadors Kim Chiu and Enchong Dee with teen celebrities Empress Schuck, Joseph Marco, Matt Evans and the Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010 housemates Ivan Dorschner, James Reid, Ryan Bang, Bret Jackson, Tricia Santos, Jenny Sol, Devon Seron and Fretzie Bercede, Starstruck idols Kris Bernal, Steven Silva, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda and Diva Montelaba.

The Philippine Navy Band led the caravan giving the whole Araneta Center a delightful and cheerful ambiance.

In the Araneta Coliseum parking lot, where the giant Christmas tree lighting ceremony will happen, there were booths that were setup for guest and media to enjoy.

There were photo booths, Coca-cola booths, game booths and Santa booth.

As the clock ticked to 5 o’clock, the program hosted by two of the most admired DJs in the metro, Nicole Hyala and Chris Tsuper, started.

By 6 o’clock, the moment we’ve been waiting for happened…

The Coca-cola officials, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Coca-Cola Ambassadors and Binibining Pilipnas beauty queens gathered at the stage to light up this giant Christmas tree.

More than 10,000 lights and hundred of stars and Coca-Cola Christmas balls with huge ribbons and colourful gift boxes filled this 100-foot-tall Christmas tree lighted up and officially marked the start of Christmas season in the country.

Oh, it was just so lovely….

And with this year’s simulated lights and sounds show, this Christmas tree will definitely catch everyone’s attention and made them feel the happiness and magic that Araneta Center and Coca-cola want to share to every Filipino.

And to truly enjoy this year’s Yuletide season, don’t forget to collect caps of Coca-cola Santa to have these colourful contour Christmas glasses. I just received a complete set. Hehe.

Thank you, Coca-Cola! Thank you, Araneta!

May we all feel the true and magical blessing of this year’s holidays!

Happy Christmas!
