eaJ Explores Love In All Its Contradictions On New EP 'the responsibility of being in love', New Single "anxiety" Out Now

Love has a way of bringing out the best in us and dragging our deepest fears along for the ride. Out now, alt-pop singer-songwriter eaJ releases his six-track EP, 'the responsibility of being in love', via Position Music, exploring how love can change the way we see ourselves while forcing us to confront the parts we would rather leave behind.

The EP’s focus track, “anxiety” (produced by Inverness), carries forward the self-discovery that marked eaJ’s return with previous singles “feel myself” and "blinded", channeling the spiralling inner monologue of a panic attack through high-energy alt-pop and hyperpop. Inspired by eaJ’s first panic attack on a flight to Lisbon in 2019, “anxiety” turns a deeply personal experience into something immediate and visceral. “Anyone who’s had one will understand the lyrics,” eaJ shares.

Across the EP, eaJ explores the tension between wanting to be loved and believing you deserve it. Previously released singles “blinded”, “feel myself”, and “put it on me” trace how intimacy can challenge old habits, help us reconnect with ourselves, and inspire us to show up for someone else.

The softer, more restrained sounds of “blinded” and “get the hell away from me” bring the uncertainty of love into focus, while “easy” finds hope in the patience it takes to make a relationship last. Together, the six songs capture love in its contradictions: the urge to pull away, the desire to be understood, and the choice to keep trying.

Ultimately, 'the responsibility of being in love' finds hope not in love as a cure, but in its power to help us.
