Unexpected Love Story: SOTA HANAMURA's New Song Is a Full-Blown Love Letter to Ramen
Who said ramen needs a love song? For its 40th anniversary, Osaka-born ramen chain Dotonbori Kamukura is getting one, courtesy of SOTA HANAMURA. The artist has created a brand-new TV commercial song for the occasion, with the commercial starring SOTA himself set to air nationwide from 18 September, particularly across the Kansai region.
And this isn't just a song about ramen. Built around an urban, cool-toned sound and lyrics with a distinctly warm touch, “ã‚ミヲサガシテタ Searching for You” finds an unexpected balance between SOTA's sleek musical style and the affection at the heart of the Dotonbori Kamukura brand. Little details throughout the song reveal a clear sense of love for Kamukura, turning a commercial tie-in into something that feels genuinely personal.
The track also marks SOTA's third consecutive collaboration with producer A.G.O, following “イエナイ” from his pre-debut album “ASCEEENSION” and his previous single “Dejavu”. A.G.O has worked with artists including Ayumu Imazu, Furui Riho, SIRUP and King & Prince, bringing his knack for polished urban production to the new song.
The collaboration will reach audiences beyond the TV screen, too. The commercial song is scheduled to be used as background music at Dotonbori Kamukura restaurants across Japan, putting SOTA's new track into the soundtrack of the very places that inspired it.
With Dotonbori Kamukura celebrating four decades and SOTA HANAMURA entering a new chapter of his solo career, the unlikely pairing makes perfect sense: one has spent 40 years serving up something people come back for, while the other is giving that feeling a melody.
