FANTASTICS crammed three eras of Japanese hits into one album

From “学園天国 Gakuen Tengoku” to “One Night Carnival”, FANTASTICS is taking fans on a musical trip through the songs that have defined different eras of Japan. The group released “BACK TO THE MEMORIES ザ·ベスト”, a 22-track best-of collection bringing together the classic covers performed throughout the FUN! FUN! FANTASTICS TV series and its companion stage production BACK TO THE MEMORIES. Rather than a studio covers album assembled after the fact, this is a document of songs the group has actually performed on stage, spanning classics that defined three separate eras of Japanese pop culture.

Since FUN! FUN! FANTASTICS first aired on Nippon TV in April 2021, FANTASTICS has been introducing a new generation of fans to songs spanning the Showa, Heisei and Reiwa eras. The accompanying BACK TO THE MEMORIES stage series has taken that concept even further, turning these familiar songs into live performances and weaving them into the story of the project.

Now, those musical memories come together in one best album. “BACK TO THE MEMORIES ザ·ベスト” features 22 tracks, including songs performed across the series such as “君がいるだけで kimigairudakede”, “WON'T BE LONG”, “夏祭り Natsumatsuri”, “Get Wild”, “残酷な天使のテーゼ A Cruel Angel's Thesis”, “HOT LIMIT”, “学園天国 Gakuen Tengoku” and “One Night Carnival”.

Among them, Finger 5’s “学園天国 Gakuen Tengoku” holds a special place in the project. The song has been performed since the very beginning of FUN! FUN! FANTASTICS and has become one of the defining songs associated with the series. Its instantly recognizable melody and high-energy chorus have made it a natural fit for FANTASTICS’ performances, while also connecting the group’s contemporary audience with a classic that has remained familiar across generations.

The album arrived just ahead of "BACK TO THE MEMORIES 祭", which took place at K-Arena Yokohama on September 19 and 20. The special event featured FANTASTICS alongside guest artists Nanase Aikawa (19 September), TRE (20 September), and LIL LEAGUE (both dates), giving fans another chance to experience the songs that have shaped the project over the past five years.

That momentum carries straight into this weekend. FANTASTICS take the stage for "FANTASTICS LIVE TOUR 2026 'SUNFLOWER'" on 26 and 27 September at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo, another chance for fans to catch the group live in the same season the album arrived.

With “BACK TO THE MEMORIES ザ·ベスト”, FANTASTICS brings together the soundtrack of a project that has crossed generations, genres and eras. What began with a TV show in 2021 has grown into a stage series and now a collection that preserves its most memorable musical moments in one place. Whether these songs are already part of your memories or you're hearing them for the first time, this is FANTASTICS’ invitation to press play and go BACK TO THE MEMORIES.
