Haddaway on moving forward: New Album 'The Sun
Haddaway is announcing his new album The Sun, due for release on 28th February, alongside the first glimpse of the project: The Sun (Beach Mix) which is to be released on 4th February.
For many people, Haddaway’s voice arrived early and never quite left. It has resurfaced in clubs, on screens and in corners of culture far removed from its original moment, carried forward by listeners who discovered it long after its first release. The Sun acknowledges that history without orbiting it. This is music made by someone who understands endurance and understands when to move on.
More than three decades after his voice became part of global pop memory, Haddaway returns with a record shaped by perspective. The Sun reflects an artist who has lived widely, travelled often, and now creates from a place of clarity. It is music rooted in warmth and connection, made by someone no longer chasing moments, but choosing what lasts.
The album’s title track appears first as The Sun (Beach Mix), a relaxed, sunlit version that opens the door to the wider record. Built around rhythm and ease, it moves with the lightness of open air, offering an early sense of the album’s atmosphere. The original version of title track will appear on the album itself.the
Across The Sun, Haddaway draws on familiar pop and eurodance instincts, softened by jazz harmony, reggae-inflected warmth, and modern electronic touch. The songs are shaped by space and flow with room to move, to pause, to stay with it, reflecting a life guided as much by motion and discipline as by sound.
That approach mirrors how Haddaway lives. Known for an active outdoor routine, windsurfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, golf, and long rides on his Harley, he treats movement as a way of staying clear and grounded. His style follows the same logic: global, understated, built on craft.
The Sun also extends beyond the studio. In the weeks following its release, Haddaway will take the album with him on the road, playing to audiences who have continued to find their own meanings in his voice over the years. In Bucharest, Haddaway will mark the album’s arrival by spending a day with local animal shelters as part of “Where the Sun Shines, Hope Grows”, cooking alongside fans and volunteers in an act that reflects the album’s values.
If The Sun arrives at a moment when Haddaway’s presence feels newly visible, it’s because it never entirely disappeared. His music has continued to travel, passed between generations, scenes and places without instruction. This album offers something new for those listeners to attach themselves to.
The Sun does not attempt to explain itself or reframe the past. It moves forward calmly, on its own terms, allowing the music to speak when it’s ready.
