Zata Aquino holds her 1st Solo Art Exhibit
entitled “Sining sa Paleta” at Gateway Mall, Q.C. The show runs from Nov. 28-
Dec 4, 2024.
Zata Aquino is a full-time housewife who used
to work in the computer industry. At 51, she joined art workshops to formally
study art for the first time. With her art exposure, she felt renewed and felt
that her life began again. Suddenly, almost everyone and everything inspired
her to push her art.
Zata’s art journey came in waves, sometimes in
trickles, and sometimes in bursts. She took great pleasure in the creative flow
because each artwork was a new and exciting adventure. Her joy was in the
artistic process: the idea, the learning, the discovery of materials and
techniques, and composition challenges.
In this exhibit, Aquino bears her limitations
and potential, and the cathartic moment every time she creates. With every use
of the medium—whether acrylic, watercolor, oil, pastels or graphite— she
embraced both the delight and the doubts. When doubt and dread crept in, she
would fall back on Scriptural truths: that she could do all things through
Christ who strengthens her; who has plans for her to prosper; and who desires
to give her hope and a future.
Zata’s solo exhibit titled “Sining sa Paleta”
is more than just the culmination of creative work; it is a celebration of the
life lessons that art continues to teach her—finding beauty, embracing
mistakes, honoring progress, and appreciating her unique artistic path.
Through her works and this exhibit, Zata aims
to encourage her viewers—regardless of age, status, and background—to embrace
the artist within, and to embark on their own creative journey.
Indeed, art is on the palette: like Zata, we
just need to recognize and release it.
