Intimate Wine Night at Wine Store Manila in Maginhawa, QC

Some things are worth braving for - in my case, travelling from the south of Metro Manila to Quezon City to revisit Maginhawa St, and enjoy a night of food, wine, music and new friends.

Wine Store Manila, a cozy little nook located at the heart of Quezon City's dining district, Maginhawa Street, is delighted to announce their latest offering that will entice and educate our love for food and wine through "Blanc Plate" - an intimate wine tasting event featuring wines from the world's most recognized wine region.

Co-presented by es Châteaux de Bordeaux, this private tasting event is an ode to Wine Store Manila's mission of democratizing wine in this part of the metro. As a neighborhood bar and store nestled in Quezon City's dining district, Wine Store Manila offers a casual and inviting space where people can engage and explore wines from different regions without the fuss.

"We don't preach wine. Our goal is to make excellent quality wines easily accessible to everyone," says Mike Cairo, Managing Partner of Wine Store Manila.

Blanc Plate is a 4-course meal by Wine Store Manila's Managing Partner and Chef Chester Velas and Kervin de la Cruz. Presented along their curated wines, our journey of discovering Blanc Plate started with a Tuna Tartlet with Pear Salad and Cream of Roasted Carrot Veloute with Crispy Shrimp. Paired with Château La Clemente Bordeaux 2021 and Pierre Gobillard Brut Sélection Champagne, these starters will surely excite your palette as these offers a comforting feel and texture to the mouth. The Tuna Tartlet with Pear Salad was probably my most favorite dish that night. Perfectly seasoned and plated that burst a refreshing flavor that compliments the first two drinks.

As we finish our first two courses and gulped down the white wine and champagne, the air was filled with a more appetizing aroma, which comes from the main star of the night, the Beef Bourguignon with Green Beans and Pomme Puree. For this segment, four types of red wine came to our view adding more excitement as we savor this new dish.

We had Château Loyasson Bordeaux 2020, Château La Plaige Bordeaux Supérieur 2020, Château Les Cabannes Saint-Emilion 2021, and Chateau Soussans Margaux 2018. Rating the three based on my liking, the Château Les Cabannes Saint-Emilion 2021 stood out among the three, followed by Château La Plaige Bordeaux Supérieur 2020. These wine labels represent the different regions of France where Bordeaux are famous.

After almost an hour of fun conversation and trivial Q&As, we finished off this pristine 12-seat private dining setup with fruits and chocolate, along with a spread of charcuterie and gourmet cheeses as we refill our glasses with more wines that were featured that night.
