Who is That Woman?

The 21st Century has played a vital role in transforming the roles of women - not just in our homes, but also in our society and the world. Women have transformed many facets of lives, as well as the economy, proving that women's empowerment has grown and developed not to compete with men, but to work hand-in-hand as equal human beings.

This transformation has not inspired only the people of today but our future generations as well, wherein women's empowerment has been a hot topic in various literary and cultural studies. In the Philippines, where women's empowerment stood as a symbol of peaceful leadership, down south of Metro Manila, this has further transformed into a colorful art piece that depicts the women of the future.

After being named the winner in the recently concluded South Park District Mural Competition by Avida Land, Jhocel “Anthony Marahuyo” Malicsi and his team of thirteen talented visual artists have the most wonderful time painting “In Her Future Memories”.

Dubbed as the biggest creative mural in the South, “In Her Future Memories” is expected to draw multitudes of art lovers and visitors to South Park District, Muntinlupa City.

“Carrying the theme ‘Part City, Part Nature, Pure South’, this mural prominently depicts a female cyborg whose mechanical parts seamlessly blend with a backdrop of brightly-hued tropical flowers, creating a fusion of technology and nature. On the left, where the flowers open up to the futuristic city skyline, onlookers are invited to imagine what tomorrow might bring” explained Malicsi.

“Through its appealing imagery, the mural transports us to a world where concrete skyscrapers rise amidst vibrant flora, symbolizing a hopeful future where progress does not come at the expense of the natural world. It’s an image that evokes nostalgia and a feeling of deep connection to one’s hometown,” Avida Land's Marketing Head, Tess Tatco shared.

The towering mural joins Reginald Yuson's existing installations, painting a vision for South Park, which is a 6.6-hectare master-planned mixed-use development in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. South Park District is home to two Avida residential developments which are Avida Towers Ardane - a pre-selling property, and Avida Towers Altura - a move-in ready home, right across the South Park Center and South Park Corporate Center.

Malicsi’s team consists of Rheydene Luca Ortega, Rhealhet Luca Ortega, Laurence Sebolino Gutierrez, Ma. Aleilyn Joyce Domingo Botin, John Roland Alipis, Ainafer Rupal Arena, John Alexis Rupal Arena, Roma Nieves Huet, Rica Permejo, Mia Jormalyn Astrera Balaoro, John Lenarrd Soriano Barua, Michael Grospe Autos, and Jefferson Panghulan Parajas.
