Lenka Releases New Single "Silhouette"

Following her single "One Moment", her first new music since 2020, featuring her captivating vocals alongside the beautiful voices of the Berry Public School choir, Australian singer-songwriter and actress Lenka returns with her infectious sugary indie pop and a soulful 80s synth-inspired backdrop for "Silhouette" via her own label Skipalong Records.

Having concluded her tour in Southeast Asia during April and May, which included performances in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, Lenka's music serves as a therapy for many. Starting this month in China, she is set to continue her tour with several stops within the country. After that, she will be heading to New York and LA before returning home to play intimate shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney, where fans can bask in her whimsical optimistic lens.

Whether it is through her time with her previous band, Decoder Ring, or her career as a solo artist, touring the world, her songwriting is the lock and key to unpacking her own feelings, "Silhouette" further encompasses Lenka's openness to share, "This song is my delicious 1980’s pop jam about being worn down by life to the point where you feel like you're disappearing and becoming numb. Almost a nihilistic feeling, but in a joyful way! "It's fun to get creative with your more negative emotions and wear them like a costume, turn them into armour", Lenka explains.

Written and recorded alongside engineer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Schuberth (Josh Pyke, Sara Storer, Ben Folds) and Dave Jenkins Jr on production in Eora (Sydney) and the soaring ridges and wilderness of Colomatta (Blue Mountains), "Silhouette" is a wonderland of nostalgia, accompanied by a visual steeped in a deciding retro aesthetic paying homage to styles across the 80s and 90s. Directed by Adam Jordan and filmed at Teel Studios in New South Wales, the video combines inspiration from icons such as Whitney Houston, Annie Lennox, Kylie Minogue, and more, with TV advertisement portrayals of women as femme fatale glamazons indulging in their sensuality from Lenka's childhood.

Known for her songs “The Show”, “Trouble Is A Friend” and “Everything at Once”, Lenka's music has been featured in movies such as 'Moneyball', 'Easy A', and 'Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging', TV shows including 'Ugly Betty', 'Grey’s Anatomy', and commercials for Microsoft, Coca Cola, and more, and collaborating with the likes of Sally Seltmann and founding member of The Avalanches Darren Seltmann.

Capturing the hearts of her worldwide fanbase, Lenka has toured across Asia, gaining a tremendous following here and resulting in #1 India, #2 Indonesia, #4 Malaysia and #6 Philippines being her top streaming countries. Apart from this region, she has also made an impact in Europe and the US, performing in numerous festivals including Strawberry Music Festival, Zhoushan Music Festival, Kunming Festival, Daydream Festival and Qingdao Phoenix Music Festival.

This year, Lenka is set to release her 7th studio album titled ‘Intraspectral’. The new album explores multiple varied mood-lifting genres and was produced by Dave Jenkins Jr in Sydney between 2022 and 2023.

About Lenka
Lenka is an Australian singer/songwriter and performer, formerly of the critically acclaimed band Decoder Ring, who has been releasing solo albums to a devoted fanbase and touring worldwide for more than a decade.

Lenka’s first and second albums were released on Epic Records, with placement on the Billboard 200 chart and radio success for several singles. "The Show" went to number one in Thailand🇹🇭, Indonesia🇮🇩 and other Asian countries and reached the top 10 in Germany, along with "Trouble Is A Friend". On her second album ‘Two’, the song "Everything At Once" had huge radio success in multiple countries such as Germany, Poland, Russia and all over Asia, after a Windows 8 commercial featured the song and music video.

In 2013, Lenka independently released her third album, 'Shadows', to critical praise. This album featured experimental lullabies devoted to her new son and life as a mother, and signalled a departure from a pure acoustic pop sound.

In 2015, Lenka released her fourth album 'The Bright Side' via her own label Skipalong Records, which became her release vehicle and involved a partnership for recordings with her long-time publisher, SonyATV. The Bright Side featured the single “Blue Skies”, a remix version of which was released on the YouTube channel Trap Nation and has amassed well over 30 million views.

2017 saw the release of her fifth album 'Attune', which was highlighted by the song “Heal”. Not only did Lenka produce 'Attune', but again released it through Skipalong Records. “Heal” was written with Australian singer and author Sally Seltmann (Feist’s 1,2,3,4).

In early 2020, Lenka released two EPs; 'Recover' and 'Discover', essentially her sixth album in combination. 'Recover' was recorded in the Blue Mountains of Australia and included Lenka reinventing her first single "The Show" as well as reinterpreting some well-known favorites, such as Marvin Hamlisch’s 1963 "Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows"; Aretha Franklin’s "RESPECT" and Bob Dylan’s "Mr Tambourine Man". Discover was produced by Darren Seltmann of The Avalanches and served up six brand-new originals.

When the pandemic and lockdown took effect, Lenka focussed on connecting with her fans through livestreams and chat sessions, writing several songs that were released as singles over the next few years.
