Jasmine Yen, Daughter of Donnie Yen, Debuts As Music Artist

RCA Records Greater China, a division of Sony Music Entertainment (SME), today announced the signing of 19-year-old singer-songwriter, Jasmine Yen, who will be releasing her debut single and music video “idk” today. She will perform the single alongside unreleased material from her upcoming album during her debut performance at Majulah Music Night in Singapore on July 30. Raised in Hong Kong, Jasmine started to nurture her talent at a young age, starting to compose when she was only seven years old. To date, she has written over 70 original songs, including 30 during the pandemic. Through her music, she hopes to inspire a generation of bold and confident girls.

Jasmine’s debut single “idk” is a light-hearted, yet powerful pop-R&B tune. Beginning with feelings of doubt towards her relationship, the song follows a girl’s journey to discovering autonomy and self-love. Through its lyrics, “idk” conveys a simple but important message to all girls in love: follow your heart, and don’t sacrifice your joy for someone else. To love others, you must first learn to love yourself.

On signing with RCA for her debut project, Jasmine shares "I feel blessed to find my musical home in RCA Records Greater China. This is an amazing opportunity for me to pursue my dreams as an artist and singer.”

“My first memory of Jasmine’s performance was in 2013. At age 9, she showed no fear on a big stage while coolly belting ‘Rolling in the deep’ by Adele. From that moment, I knew she was destined to be a star. We are excited to welcome her into the Sony Music family and can't wait to witness the incredible heights she will undoubtedly reach with her boundless talent and unwavering passion.” – Andrew Chan, CEO, Greater China, Sony Music Entertainment

"Jasmine is the perfect example of a modern day artist, an innate talent, with a unique story that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries. I am excited that RCA is partnering with her at the start of her journey, and am filled with anticipation of where this journey will take us together.” – Kevin Foo, Managing Director, RCA Records Greater China, & General Manager, Sony Music Entertainment Taiwan

“When I was first introduced to Jasmine’s demos in 2021, I was intrigued by her distinct vocal tone and instinct for writing commercial hits. She displayed an understanding and focus to her artistic vision that was mature beyond her peers. It is a pleasure to play a role in developing and unveiling Jasmine’s craft to the world, and grow her fanbase in Asia and beyond.
– Ruth Ling, General Manager, RCA Records Greater China.

Jasmine’s debut album will be released on September 1. The focus single "tbh" will be accompanied by a dance video featuring choreography by top Chinese dance group based in Shanghai, @kumakidz.  The album consists of 8 songs, written in part or fully by Jasmine. Among these songs, four are entirely in English.
