NJOMZA Drops Hypnotic Self-love Anthem "Emotional"

Pop veteran NJOMZA has dropped a brand new self-love anthem in the form of "Emotional", a journey of putting yourself first and eliminating what’s no longer serving you. The atmospheric, late-night offering boasts clapping R&B sensibilities over synth-motif production, with NJOMZA’s sultry vocals providing a dance-motivated hook. 


Of the track, NJOMZA shares: "Experimenting with music is what I live for. ‘Emotional’ allows me to express myself over genre-bending production. I had the pleasure of working on production with Blair Taylor, a long time friend and collaborator of mine. The song was written by me and WurlD. I’ve always been a fan of WurlD’s music style and am so glad he was able to lend his magic on this as our second collaboration.

Dance music has always held a special place in my heart and has been inspiring me for as long as I can remember. This feels like an introduction for myself to enter that space." 


The release of "Emotional" comes on the back of February’s "Over You", which featured major producer Louis The Child, and sees the artist truly affirm herself as a major player in genre-blending, post-pandemic pop. The Albanian, German-born, Chicago-raised and Los Angeles-residing singer-songwriter has over the years been able to hone in on a signature sound that has been created and inspired by not only by her diverse background, but through her previous collaborations with the likes of Mac Miller, Skrillez, Fki 1st, and lending her songwriting prowess for Ariana Grande's "7 rings" and "thank u, next". 

NJOMZA makes accessible pop music that updates the atmosphere of 90s R&B with modernised production, composition and subject matter. She was introduced to R&B through her sister, and later began listening to rock and pop rock music, adding to her prized book of assorted inspiration. Starting out posting cover versions of various hip-hop artists such as Kid Cudi and Mac Miller on YouTube, NJOMZA was discovered by the latter, who signed her to his imprint of Warner Records, REmember Music, the label’s first signee. She featured on the track "Planet God Damn" from Miller’s acclaimed last album, 'The Divine Feminine' in 2016, thereafter unveiling her acclaimed debut EP, 'Sad For You' in 2017. 


Following the release of further singles, NJOMZA embarked on her first ever US headline tour in 2019, additionally touring with "3 Nights" hitmaker Dominic Fike on his international Rain Or Shine tour. In the same year, Ariana Grande released her GRAMMY-nominated 'thank u, next' album, of which NJOMZA is recognised for her songwriting work.

No stranger to the spotlight, NJOMZA’s total career streams have surpassed 50 million, while gaining industry support across the likes of Billboard, MTV, NPR, Recording Academy, VICE, Complex, and more.
