Matoma Takes Things "Deeper" With New Single

Norwegian DJ & producer Matoma gears up to release his latest track “Deeper” on March 17, a collaboration between himself and songwriter-producer H. Kenneth. Following the release of “Easy To Love” with Armin Van Buuren (feat. Teddy Swims) and a steady stream of more club-leaning singles in the past few months, Matoma is psyched to unveil his latest single in the midst of his North American tour.

After supporting Zedd at Red Rocks in August, The Chainsmokers at the Brooklyn Mirage in September and returning to clubs and festivals in both Norway and the US in recent months, Matoma is ecstatic to continue experimenting with a more dance-floor focused sound that first inspired him to become a producer.

Says Matoma of his music, "I’m really following my inspiration in music, back on the road again playing to beautiful crowds, and one thing I feel excited about is going 'deeper' with the audience in more of a rhythmic journey. The true connection you get from a deeper moment can be just as powerful as a big drop or a banger when you find that groove.”

With lyrics that ring, “The lights go out and there’s no one there, I lose my way in the midnight air, Try to break free but I’m sinking like a stone tossed in the sea, I can’t breathe so far beneath” – “Deeper” plays into the common emotional thread of Matoma’s music and explores ways to move people in more significant ways than strictly upbeat tunes.

Written and produced by Matoma with additional production and vocals from H. Kenneth, “Deeper” will serve as another banger in a series of recent singles from the artist, warming things up for summer.

“I connected with amazing writer and vocalist H. Kenneth and we came up with this idea that captures that feeling of falling deeper into something or someone and just surrendering to it. The production is inspired by the mystics of Norwegian folk tales and stories. In fact, when I made the song I was sitting at my cabin in Norway surrounded by thick forest, fog and mist; it was truly inspirational and I hope you get pulled in deeper with me on this sonic journey."

The release falls at the conclusion of Matoma's recent "Deeper" North American club tour with a string of sold-out shows in a few US states – before returning to Norway to complete more music to be released in coming months.

Matoma has gained a significant global fan base, extending well beyond North America. The artist has amassed a massive following in countries such as the Philippines and Indonesia, which both rank among the top 10 countries with the highest number of listeners of his music.
