Admit it, Koreans has practically invaded every nation in the world with their captivating entertainment - from K-Pop to K-Dramas - that has brought out the beauty of their culture and heritage. With these astounding influences, every one's lifestyle and habit have changed where we all get to enjoy and savour. In the Philippines, a new Korean restaurant has opened in Ayala Malls Manila Bay to share the wondrous flavors and aroma of Korean cuisine, Kiwa Express.

Taking pride of its exceptional and authentic Korean dining options, Kiwa Express is born out of Kiwa Korean Grill at Solaire Resort, and is set to offer quick-service casual Korean meals at an affordable price point. Kiwa Express menu features items hand-picked by Dr. David Shim, CEO and owner of Kiwa Express. Classified as Kiwa signature dishes or chef’s special recommendations, first-time diners could indulge on Kiwa Galbitang, the Korean version of bulalo, and Kimchi Jjigae, a warming, spicy stew highlighting their signature kimchi, Doenjang Jjigae, Jap Chae, and Shrimp Tempura.

“I’ve been operating Kiwa Restaurant in Solaire since 2015 and there has been this growing demand from Filipino regulars wanting easier access to my authentic Korean food. Our dishes here are true-to-heart Korean food, not fusion, not localized, and comes in high-caliber and quality Korean cuisine identical to the food that they would sample from Kiwa in Solaire," Dr. Shim shared.

Kiwa Express is also boasts with well-loved Korean dishes that have been popularized in many Korean dramas and movies that are hit in the Philippines including Bibimbap, Korean Fried Chicken, japchae, Tteokbokki, and Bungsu.

Dr. Shim believes Korean food will continue to be popular among Filipinos. “I observe food being served to the general public is too much of fast food and instant food. It is too salty, sweet, deep fried and harmful to your health. Korean food offers a healthy alternative as it uses generous portions of vegetables. Kiwa Korean food, in particular, is not instant nor ready-made food, and always delivered via on-site preparation and cooking. I hope to provide healthier alternative for Filipino people for better well-being."
