NYK feat. brb. Releases “OOP! (Dipha Barus Remix)”

Indonesian phenomenon Dipha Barus brings a special remix of NYK’s track “OOP!” feat brb. to Ultra Records with his unmistakable flair. The originally confident and relaxed track gets a double time kick from this powerhouse right from the start. Tropically zesty and overflowing with classic house style, this track deepens the beat while adding in perfectly layered synths and vocals for a cross genre breakdown. An unforgettable collaboration marked by its hybrid flair that we hope to see more of soon.

From being nominated for an Indonesian music award to garnering over 100 million streams in China, NYK is making a name for himself around Asia with his signature pop sensibilities and unique aesthetic. In this latest project, the Malaysian artist is crafting a narrative about the ups and downs of a relationship, while taking his listeners on an compelling journey through multiple genres and intimate lyricisms, while partnering with other exciting talents from around the region. With a captive fanbase in the palm of his hand, NYK has set out to do something different with his music moving forward, juxtaposing the hooks that he’d become well-known for with a more mature, experimental approach to production, and pairing the new sounds with inspired, forward-thinking visuals.

DJ, composer and producer Dipha Barus has become one of the most well-known musicians in his home country of Indonesia.

His love of music was shaped in childhood, from joining a band that played gospel in the form of jazz to having music by his side in every waking moment. He found deep appreciation for a wide array of bands and artists, from Sepultura, Jamiroquai, Dead Kennedys, Primal Scream to The Chemical Brothers; a testament to his broad taste which then came out through his distinct musical styles, which often feature earth instruments with a touch of pop and soul.

He began to gain recognition as a member of electronic dance group Agrikulture in late 2000s and made a name of himself when the dance track “No One Can Stop Us” featuring singer Kallula became a huge hit in 2016. Ever since, he produced numerous well-received tracks in collaboration with celebrated singers such as Raisa and Bunga Citra Lestari as well as newcomers Monica Karina and Nadin. He was awarded with multiple Indonesian Music Awards since 2016 in Best Electronic Song, Best Collaboration in Soul/R&B and Best Production categories, among others.

In 2019, Dipha was signed by American label ULTRA Records that focuses on electronic music. His first international track, “You Move Me” featuring Monica Karina, was released soon after under the label.

Dipha plans to release his debut album next year, with the pandemic giving him a chance to step back and reflect on movements going on around the world. He’s fascinated by the theme of humankind, something he hopes he can deliver in the album in its real meaning. “I’d like to grow as a human being and an artist. I find that the most important thing for me,” he said.
