Celebrating Asian Flavors at Nanyang SM Mall of Asia

It’s been two years since we’ve been restricted to travel. Our itchy feet and hungry pangs can’t wait for the day until we explore the world most especially the rich and vibrant countries here in Asia. But as we wait for this pandemic to subside and everything went back to safe zone, you can enjoy Asian dishes at the newly opened branch of Nanyang in SM Mall of Asia.

As the renovation of the biggest mall in Asia is about to complete, it is slowly opening new doors for shoppers and diners who are longing to spend some time out of their homes with family and friends. Nanyang, which literally means “Southern Ocean,” is a new coffee shop destination in SM Mall of Asia with 10 more branches in the Metro and in Baguio City offering a perfect epitome of a fusion of the contemporary and nostalgic experience serving a variety of simple food offerings such as coffee, tea, kaya, and toast. Topping these offerings, Nanyang is also garnering attention from dinners and foodies who find comfort and love in Asian dishes including Southeast Asian dishes such as Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Curry, Nasi Lemak and others.

This is not the first time that I tried Nanyang. Actually, I’ve been to their Robinsons Place Manila branch quite a few times already and most of these times is whenever I crave for some steamy and comforting Laksa. I find their price pretty good given the serving size of their offerings, hence I recommend it to family and friends who are big fans of Asian food.

Laksa Prawn - PHP268 and Nonkaya Traditional Toast - PHP70

Milo Dinosaur - PHP130

I usually partner my Laksa with their traditional Toast and Milo Dinosaur, though I know that these may not be a good combination, I do get to enjoy this comforting combo that gives me those flavors that I’m usually craving for. Topping this exquisite combination of flavors is the cozy, modern Asian vibe of their interior filled with Kopi and Teh aromas that make my visit more relaxing and comforting.

If it’s your first time to visit this place, the best way to enjoy your stay is to start with their drinks. If you are looking for that authentic Asian coffee flavor, you could enjoy their Kopi selection as it boasts with great imported beans that share that sough-after Asia coffee taste. May it be hot or cold, I’m sure that there’s something for you to enjoy. Not a coffee person? Well, their Teh selection offers equally soothing and refreshing tastes and mixes that are perfect to go with Kaya Toasts.

If you are visiting to satiate your cravings for some Asian meals, Nanyang’s Hainanese Chicken Rice and Hainanese Fried Chicken Rice will surely delight your palette and tummy. Each order comes in a tray consisting of the main dish, soup, vegetable and dipping sauces. For those who are up for some crunch in every bite, their version of Nasi Lemak will surely give you that desired Malay flavor you’ve been longing since the lockdown, but if you are up for some sweet and savory combination of spice from Asia, they you should get their Curry.
