A Month-long October Fiesta at Resorts World Manila

If there is one month in a year where you should have a healthy liver, that's October! Since Philippines - a beer-loving country - starts co-celebrating Germany's renowned Oktoberfest, local establishments and brands starts putting up and holding their own version of this barrel-gulping celebration. Not that I’m complaining, but hey, who doesn’t love drinking beers and eating amazing selection of bar chows, right?

Last October 4, at the at the ground floor of the Garden Wing Gaming Area of Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila (RWM), guests had a tummy-filling night as they host their October Fiesta. A fusion of the wonderful German celebration and Filipino flavors, RWM proves once again that we, Pinoys, can do anything when it comes to party.

Taking pride of our local beer crafters and unique finger foods, RWM brought an astonishing and merry-making night topped with amazing music from the likes of Paolo Santos, Migz Haleco, Davey Langit, New Maincast, and Julius.

“October Fiesta is a unique celebration wherein good food, superb performances, and various beer brews take the main spotlight at the Newport Mall,” shared RWM Director for Corporate Communications Joee Guilas. “It’s our way of celebrating the German tradition with that distinct Filipino touch that makes it more homely and comfortably familiar,” he adds. 

Over 300 Pinoy craft beers filled the venue representing local and international mix of flavors that some even come from far-flung places such as Sagada, the Visayas and Mindanao. I must say that the local industry should supporting these local beer crafters because mainly their products are absolutely world-class.

Next to these amazing selection of beers are the bar chows that give more fun and excitement to the night. Choices range from Franks Pinoy Hotdogs flavored in Pinoy favorites Chicken Inasal, Chicken-Pork Adobo, and Bistek Tagalog, comes well with Philippines favorite street food suck as Tukneneng, Pork Balls, Crispy Chicken Skin, Fried Isaw, Ham de Sal, and my favorite, the bestseller Sisig Wrap.

Newport Mall merchants have also joined this month-long celebrations with their own take of beer matches and beer-infused dishes including Johnny Kahuku Hawaiian Shrimphouse’s Crispy Drunken Shrimps; Crustasia Asian Seafood Market’s Crispy Pork Knuckles; Lumu Filipino Kitchen’s Beer-battered Fried Chicken; Chiara’s Beer-flavored Sorbet and Zuppa Inglese infused with Alkermes Liquor Syrup; Shrimp Bucket’s Beer-battered Fish and Fritts; and Mr. Kurosawa’s Beer-battered Fish and Chips. 

Also served at Savoy Hotel Manila at Newport City are Beer Pork Knuckles, Beer-infused Osso Bucco con Gremalota, Beer Marinated Schnitzel, Beer Pretzel, and Beer & Mustard Sauerkraut.

Music fans can also enjoy October Fiesta at El Calle Food and Music Hall which also serves a great beer match via Bolahan’s streetfood platter, a selection of beers, wines, and spirits, and some of the top acoustic acts in the metro today.
