Clark Marriott Hotel: A 5-Star Weekend Escape from Manila

Life has been toxic lately. I won’t deny it anymore. That’s why I’m so thankful whenever there’s a friend who’ll tag me to go somewhere else - to breath, to relax, to escape the busy, crazy City of Manila. Clark, given its proximity to Manila isn’t a bad destination after all, especially now that Clark Marriott Hotel opened its door to offer a world-renowned, five-star accommodation.

Situated along the evolving Manuel A. Roxas Highway, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Clark Marriott Hotel just opened its doors last September and stands tall at 16 floors - housing 260 well-appointed rooms, 5 restaurants and bars, event places, meeting rooms, spa, swimming pool, fitness center and Kids Club.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in Clark, Pampanga. I only get a chance to visit this city during the Hot Air Balloon Festival, which happens around February of each year, and I don’t really go around to see what’s happening in this side of the country. But now that Clark is starting to gain attention again, promoting sustainable development topped with exquisite establishments such Clark Marriott Hotel, I won’t be surprised that metro dwellers will start heading north once more for some quick getaway from the Metropolis.

Made to Make Pinoys Proud

Coming from a Kampampangan family, I’m quite expecting for that familiar hospitality from Clark Marriott Hotel. Aside from delicious meals, Kampampangans are known for their over-the-top hospitality, and I’m happy that on my first visit in this property, I felt at home with the warmth smile and assistance that I got from the hotel’s front-liners and top management, who are mostly locals of the province, and was so full and delighted from their various offerings.

The property takes pride on the rich culture and heritage of Pampanga, which is visually available in every corner of the hotel. For instance, at the lobby, you’ll find the lyrics of "Atin Ku Pung Singsing" (I Have a Ring) written on a huge glass frame hanging, side by side with its Kulitan version, which is a Kapampangan ancient style of writing. I was honestly surprised to know that Kapampangans had their own style of writing, which was never discussed or thought by my Papang and Ima (terms, I used to call to my Kapampangan grandfather and grandmother).

Then, there’s also these sculptures made from the volcanic mud of Mt. Pinatubo. The corridors of each floor is adorned by the wonderfully designed carpets, which display the famous Kapampangan Christmas lanterns design, locally called as “Parul,” while each room has the these frames with black and photographs of parul making, taken by a local photographer.

As for the food and beverages, Clark Marriott Hotel incorporated the well-loved Kapampangan dishes with their ever-sumptuous International cuisines. For those have an access to the Executive Lounge at the 15th floor, guests can enjoy a their Western breakfast spread.

While regular guests can devour their festive spread of East-meets-West dishes at Goji Kitchen + Bar. This restaurant is open for stay-in and walk-in guests; and designed in an open-kitchen way, which adds uniqueness to the place, aside from its industrial interiors that I can’t help but to adore.

Local and international guests who opt to have something fancy and different, a Korean fine-dining restaurant  is available at the top floor, Smoki Moto, which offer not just amazing Korean dishes, but a breathtaking view of the Clark field as well.

While quick refreshment, cocktails available only here in Clark Marriott Hotel and other wonderful variations of coffee are available at their The Lounge and Urban Coffee, which are both at the ground level of the hotel.
