Something New and Wonderful from Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay

Tagaytay may seem and sound passé for a holiday destination to most Metro dwellers, but hey, admit it or not, this place never comes short in offering something new to elevate our senses and experiences. So, packed with our light bags and excitement, together with some friends, we drove down south to enjoy a contemporary, yet classy and elegant stay in Tagaytay’s premier hotel, the Taal Vista Hotel.

It took us almost two hours to reach the mountain City of Tagaytay, thanks to Waze, we were relieved from the notorious Tagaytay traffic. The City welcomed us with comfortingly warm weather that Saturday morning, and even warmer welcome from the staff of Taal Vista Hotel.

Devour and De-stress in Paradise

I can’t remember when was the last time I’ve been here in Taal Vista, but I’m sure that this is my first time to visit the hotel after it went under renovation a few years back. The façade still carries that distinct Tudor-designed rooftop, while the interior offers a completely new vibrant feel that energizes any guest who comes in for some relaxation.

Philippine folk songs echoed in the whole lobby of the hotel as a local dance group performs at The Veranda, Taal Vista Hotel’s main restaurant. The hotel was packed that weekend, but it wasn’t too crowded as I noticed almost all guests are having a great time watching the show and devouring their lunch. The Veranda was such a delight to see with its sophisticated yet homey feel. Much more to our delight, the buffet spread, which was carefully curated by Taal Vista’s executive chef, Chef Jayme Natividad, offers a heartwarming selection that the whole family could enjoy. Mostly Filipino dishes, guests’ with discriminating taste can also enjoy American, Italian and some Japanese cuisines.

I honestly can’t mention which one is my  most favorite, but if you are craving for Filipino dishes, which I think is the strength of this restaurant, you should check out the Heirloom dishes, which are sometimes available on the buffet spread, or you can order it from their menu. Their Puto and Dinuguan partner is the best! I devour like two servings of it in one sitting! Hahaha!

As for the entertainment I’ve mentioned earlier, it didn’t fall short in making us amazed and inspired as the cultural presentation took us back in time and through different regions of the Philippines. I super, duper love their Mindanao dance numbers – the costumes are on point, the music was very surreal and the whole dance moves were just great. I didn’t expect that Taal Vista Hotel do this kind of show, but I’m happy and thankful that they still did. This is something to be proud of and worth to share to our international guess.

Aside from Veranda, Taal Vista also offers a unique and exquisite dining experience through TĀZA Fresh Table. A farm-to-table concept restaurant that offers captivating and fresh tasting dishes, TĀZA is set in the garden area of the hotel, close to the ridge, which overlooks the lovely Taal Lake and Volcano. If you are looking for a more private dining option with equally satisfying meals, this is that place. May it be early-morning breakfast or lovely dinner, this place magically translates the day’s mood to something that can put anyone at ease.

On the night of our stay here in Taal Vista, our fangs were treated to their best tasting and filling Bukidnon Wagyu Tomahawk (Php8,700.00). This is good for 3 to 4 persons already. THIS RESTAUTANT IS MEAT HEAVEN! The was perfect! Aside from the steak, our group also enjoyed the TĀZA Salad (Php390.00), Mushroom Soup (Php290.00), Spinach with Bacon Jam (Php220.00), 10-day cured Homemade Bacon, and the Mushroom and Spinach Matagliati (Php595.00).

We continued to enjoy our weekend here in Tagaytay through the relaxing vibe of the Lobby Lounge, where an acoustic live band was serenading guests who opt to end the night with some beer or cocktails. I had mojito as always. Hehe.

Incomparable Hospitality, Better Accommodation Options

Topping off the amazing services and filling dishes and drinks, we laid our body to the most comfortable and newly upgraded beds of Taal Vista Hotel’s Ridge Rooms.

Set to give their guests a nurturing and relaxing stay, these freshly renovated rooms shared a new level of comfort and style, topped with hotel amenities that completed our staycation. Our room has a private balcony overlooking the lush surrounding, and letting a good amount of sunshine to give us an enjoyable stay. Also available inside our sleek and spacious room are the flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi, safety deposit box, flat iron with board, air conditioning, and hair dryer.

The Ridge Rooms are located in the southern part of the hotel, which needs a few minutes of walking from the lobby. The hotel offers assistance to PWD and Senior Citizens guests, so no need to worry about bringing the whole family. But despite of being a little far from the main lobby, I find the Ridge Rooms in a good location since it’s near the TĀZA Fresh Table and the swimming pool.

Currently, the hotel is renovating its Mountain View Rooms, so some areas are close to public. But nothing to worry about this, we barely noticed that there’s a construction on-going during our stay, as the whole place was kept lush and quiet.

For extra fun and adventure, Taal Vista Hotel guests can also avail the express and exclusive access to Sky Ranch with discounts on tickets.

Thank you, Taal Vista Hotel, for this nurturing stay! Nothing beats a weekend full of lush scenery and outstanding service that you’ll love to experience over and over again.
