Review: ASUS Zenfone Live L1

Bearing the Tagline “More Screen, More Energy, More Fun,” ASUS is not joking about the amazing qualities of their latest mobile innovation, the Zenfone Live L1. Available in Philippine market starting July 21st, Saturday, this Zenfone is packed with superb features given its very affordable price of PhpPhp5,995.

A predecessor to ASUS Zenfone Live, which was launched last year, ASUS Zenfone Live L1 embodies an astonishing wider screen, HD display, advance security features, and more to users’ convenience.

I had a chance to own a unit ahead its official launch in the Philippines, and I must say that despite of being an Apple user for years now, I’m amazed as to how ASUS made all the convenience that I enjoyed on my Apple device available in Zenfone Live L1. And selling this gadget in that very affordable price, don’t be surprised if you hear me one day that I’m ditching my iPhone. Hahaha!

Handy and Lightweight
My initial reaction upon handling ASUS Zenfone Live L1 is how amazingly lightweight and handy it is. Weighing 140 grams or 4.94 ounces and with a scale of 5.8 inches by 2.83 inches long and 0.32 inches thick, this latest gadget from ASUS already comes with a built-in Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery.

And if I’m not mistaken, ASUS Zenfone Live L1 is one of the few smartphones now in the market that offers triple slots, which are for Dual SIM and one for microSD card – something that made me realize how good investment is this.

Other physical features that I like about ASUS Zenfone Live L1 is its four amazing finishes - Space Blue, Rose Pink, Shimmer Gold, Midnight Black. As you can see, I had the Midnight Black, which I really like because its suits my style and it is easy to carry along no matter what my style is.

Vivid Colors Mean Better Picture and Gaming Experience
Speaking of colors, given ASUS Zenfone Live L1’s 5.5-inch 18:9 HD IPS display, the graphics are just as extraordinary as compared to other same-range smartphones in the market. Each unit is packed with Qualcomm® Adreno™ 308 Graphics Processing Unit, while Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 425 Mobile Platform with 28nm, 64-bit Quad-core Processor, powers its Central Processing Unit.

And because of these, I’m pretty sure our gaming experience will better and more enjoyable. Though I must remind you that this model has only LPDDR3 for its memory. But battery wise, this can last up to 18 hours of 3G talk time, up to 4 days of music playback, watch up to 8 movie-length videos, up to 28 days of 4G standby time, and up to 18 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing.

In case you are in photography, no need to worry, because ASUS Zenfone Live L1 has 13MP rear camera with F2.0 aperture, Phase-detection autofocus, 5p lens and LED flash. While selfie-loving peeps will also enjoy its front camera, which has 5MP, F2.4 aperture and Softlight LED flash.

Some more photos using Zenfone Live L1

To be honest, though there’s a little noise in the photos that I took using this Zenfone, the quality isn’t that far from the photos that I took using my iPhone 6. And because of the its clear screen display, the colors are just popping too. And more enjoyable camera features, both front and rear cameras are equipped with PixelMaster camera modes such as Auto (with Night HDR and Portrait), Beauty, Pro (up to 32 seconds long exposure), Panorama, Time Lapse (with power saving) and 8 different filters. Vloggers can also find relief to its 1080p FHD video recording at 30 fps.

Maximized Features and Better Performance
Two things that added to my excitement about ASUS Zenfone Live L1 is its sensors and the bonus 100GB Google Drive free space. (Please note that this is limited to device with Android™ Oreo™). I’m not really expecting more about this gadget given its price range, but ASUS powered this one with Accelerator, E-Compass, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor. Because of these, face unlock technology is available for our added layer of security.

The ZenFone Live L1 will be available nationwide starting tomorrow, July 21, Saturday, at the price of only PHP 5,995.00. If you are going to ask me it if this is a good buy - DEFINITELY! Not bad for its almost Php6,000 worth. :-)
