The World of the Walking Dead

Last August 18, 2016, the Philippines was in a state of zombie-crazed madness, as TV5 added one of the world’s most watched television series to their lineup of American television hits – we’re referring to the premiere of The Walking Dead series on free TV.

Filipinos nationwide finally had the chance to delve into the world of Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon and Shane Walsh as they navigate through the aftermath of a widespread zombie outbreak.

More than that, viewers were given the advantage of watching the series in its Tagalized form – much like the variety of U.S.-based television shows aired on TV5. This should come as no surprise as more and more Filipinos choose to watch Tagalized versions of their favorite foreign shows. Since its nationwide premiere last August 18, The Walking Dead garnered high average minute ratings and continuously increasing audience share, based on Nielsen data. This boost in ratings shows the viewers’ interest in more Tagalized versions of American shows.

Also, since its first episode aired on TV5, The Walking Dead has sparked intrigue among several age groups – most of which  participated in TV5’s one-of-a-kind The Walking Dead experience in the past Asia Pop Comic Convention,  held last August 26 to 28, 2016.  During that three-day event, fans of the series eagerly waited in line to engage in TV5’s selection of unforgettable The Walking Dead activities. One of which included the much-awaited maze challenge, wherein participants joined for free, to find their way out of the dystopian-designed labyrinth.  These participants must continuously unravel clues and unlock the rooms to reach the end of the maze; but the game proved itself not to be so easy, as each room contained the added difficulty of zombies. To further add to this adrenaline-filled atmosphere, fans and participants could even have their pictures taken for free with the zombies present outside the TV5 booth and at the Zombify wall. Through it all, the booth truly served as a great experience for all The Walking Dead enthusiasts.

Luckily, for fans and viewers alike, their journey for zombie survival won’t just end with the Asia Pop Comic Convention; because The Walking Dead airs every Thursday night on TV5. Finally, be sure to mark your calendars for The Walking Dead’s groundbreaking season one finale airing on September 22, 2016, 7pm,  and its season two premiere happening on October 6, 2016, 7pm, right here in the channel that makes you feel right at home, TV5.
