#OneDayOfZen with Asus' Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0
While the rest of the metropolis are still recuperating from the trauma they acquired from the “carmageddon” that happened during the APEC Leaders’ Forum here in Manila, ASUS Philippines just know how to put everything in order again – at least for some people like me – and share a Zen day worth capturing with their latest smartphone.
Held at Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila, along with other bloggers and media personalities, we were taken back in time inside the Walled City while holding on to our very own Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0. Would you believe that my first impression when I got mine was “This is gonna be pricey.” But, I’m glad I was wrong. IT’S JUST PHP 7,295.00!!!
Possessing an ergonomic design that offers a nice grip, especially compared with my thin-yet-flatly designed iPhone 6, which I often easily drop due to the flat and slippery surface, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 offers a handy size, weight and feel.
One of the features that was highlighted that day was its 8-megapixel camera on the back guided with a laser auto-focus - a first in the market that offers at this price range. It also has a 5-megapixel camera on the front that would make “selfie” taking to a higher, clearer and more vibrant level!
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 has an f/2.0-aperture Toshiba lens that manages to focus the subject in a snap and delivers shots with excellent detail, saturation and contrast levels in day-light conditions. The combination of the excellent hardware and software truly deliver the best in class camera solutions.
See What Others Can’t See – this is mainly the message of the whole event. With Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0’s PixelMaster 2.0 Camera, this smartphone’s rear camera has laser auto-focus technology for the fastest clarity. Its infrared laser measures distances at lightning speed, which makes its near-instant focus as fast as only 0.03 seconds.
Compared with traditional contrast focus, ZenFone 2 Laser is easily in the lead by up to 2 times faster speed, wherein the infrared laser gets the most accurate distance of the object and the lens simply accelerates itself to the precise position for the imaging. Whereas traditional focus needs to detect the sharpness of the photo frame by frame, hence the lens needs to travel longer, and the unnecessary distance slows down the focusing time.
The laser auto-focus even accelerates close-up photography, compensating for the extra distance created by the lens receding during framing. It also has the advantage of working well in low-light environments, which is a constant problem with contrast and phase detection.
Along with the unique ZenMotion touch gesture, you can simply swipe “C” to launch the camera and activate the camera app in a snap, and take the photo as if you don’t need to wait for the focus time. It’s a perfect solution as most of the smartphones (even high end ones) don’t offer the same level of convenience by intuitive solution for quick-launching the camera.
For special features, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0’s camera delivers the best back light HDR mode. Pixel enhancing provides 400% more brightness and contrast to ensure that every detail is visible. It also has an aide angel panorama selfie that offers an 85° wide-angle, enabling you to capture more than ever before. To capture everything or everyone in one picture, try the new Panorama Selfie mode that allows you to take a 140° selfie so that everyone can be part of the shot.
And speaking of selfie, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0’s has a Dual Color Real Tone Flash that delivers true to life colors by using both yellow and white-based lighting as opposed to only the white-based flash found on most smartphones. Tablante shared some thought and ideas on photography and mobile photography, while Macam talked about some helpful tips for beginners and aspiring photographers.
Widely known for their works in fashion, beauty and pop culture, both lensmen openly lent their expertise, shared pro tips and tricks, and also touched on the evolution of mobile photography. From there, they then gave helpful points on how one can maximize the features and capabilities of the ZenFone 2 Laser 5.0, taking the audience through various scenarios and conditions they might face when taking any and all kinds of photos.
