The 1st AirAsia Travel Photographer Winners

After weeks of training and coaching, AirAsia's travel photographer set off to assigned destination to capture the best moment and be named as the 1st AirAsia Travel Photographer. And last Friday, September 18, one travel photographer was named as the first winner, the 36-year-old executive assistant, Velvet Lagman.

 Guided by Malaysian photojournalist Adam Lee, Lagman and AirAsia crew flew to Yogyakarta, Indonesia to gather some moments and present it to the online voting  public for judgment. Along with three other contestants, Paul Delfin, coached by Parc Cruz; Sarah Garcia, coached by George Tapan; and TJ Nepomuceno III, coached by Raymond Cruz,  AirAsia Travel Photographers visited budding tourist destinations in Asia to capture unforgettable moment while learning from the master photographers on a one-on-one tutorial basis.

AirAsia Philippines Head of Commercial Gerard Penaflor opened the ceremony and joined in the ribbon-cutting of the photojournalists' exhibit featuring pictures taken on the contest leg. ThinkDharma Inc.'s Lady Dianne Abarintos also graced the event to thank and congratulate all the participants, mentors and media personalities to help them made this contest possible.

Awarding of prizes

Participating travel photographers won Nikon Digital Cameras and AirAsia BIG Points, while the grand winner, Velvet Lagman, took home a Nikon D5500 with a 18mm-55mm len kit and 100,000 AirAsia BIG Points. One online voter in the name of Mia Celindro also won 100,00 AirAsia BIG Points and a Nikon 1 J5, along with 10 other online voters who were awarded with AirAsia BIg POints and some goodies from Nikon.

The 1st AirAsia Travel Photographer exhibit is open for public viewing at SMDC Light Mall, EDSA-Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City starting September 18 until October 5, 2015.
