KakaoTalk celebrates Philippine Artistry with Yahoo! Celebrity Awards 2014

When I went last week to witness the most awaited awarding night of Yahoo! to Philippines most in-demand and love celebrities, one thing that brought smile to hundreds of attendees, including me, the presence of our favorite characters from KakaoTalk.

Currently has more than 150 million registered users from 230 countries, and billions of messages are delivered every day in form of text, photos, video and voice, KakaoTalk  along with the official Yahoo website, served as one of the main fan-voting platforms for the 2014 Yahoo! Celebrity Awards, as the free, fast and fun messenger app replaced SMS as the primary mobile channel for fans to voice their opinions.

SM Mall of Asia Arena hosted The Yahoo! Celebrity Awards, an online award-giving project, which registered a total of 1,336,929 fans voted using KakaoTalk, showing a nearly 276% increase compared to last year’s SMS voting figures.

Before I went inside the arena to get a glimpse of my favorite TV and radio personalities, as well as to know the winners of The Yahoo! Celebrity Awards, I get to enjoy some of the partner booths first - one of them is the KakaoTalk booth where I get to play with Angry Tube!

Yahoo! Celebrity Awards attendees like me got the opportunity to try out the new game by simply going to the booth, showing their KakaoTalk app on their smartphones and registering their KakaoTalk ID. Participants received exclusive gifts for reaching certain milestones, and a lucky fan won a free iPad Mini by recording the high score of the night.

Right after winning one of the KakaoTalk plush dolls, I immediately  went inside the stadium to see the program that was just starting. And without further ado, here are the winners of the recently concluded Yahoo! Celebrity Awards:
