The Search for the Next Philippine Gems is On!

Aiming to promote the next mainstream tourist destinations of our country, Isla Lipana & Co. recently launches the search in finding the next top destinations through an online campaign called the Philippine Gems.

In line with its 91st anniversary, as a corporate social responsibility project of Isla Lipana & Co. that is set to support of domestic tourism, Philippine Gems aims to recognize up and coming destinations in the country through online voting at www.philippinegems.com.

From June 26th to August 9th, 2013, 25 sought-after Philippine destinations will vie to be on Isla Lipana & Co.'s top 10 Philippine Gems. So from the far north, which includes Batanes, Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, Pagudpud Beach, Mt. Pinatubo, Mt. Pulag and Sagada; down to the middle part of our country which includes Biri Island Rock, Calaguas, Caramoan, Donsol, Mt. Kanlaon, Taytay Palawan, Siquijor, Panglao Island, Camotes Islands, Tubbataha Reefs and Natural Park and Busunga and Coron; and finally to bottom of our country, which inlcludes Apo Island, Apo Reef Natural Park, Bucas Grande Island, Cagayan de Oro City, Camiguin, Danjugan Island, Lake Sebu and Siargao Island.

Philippine Gems does not just want to showcase the usual tourist spots but rather the wide range of diverse and hidden natural wonders that bejewel our country from Batanes in the North to Siargao in Mindanao.

According to Atty. Alex Cabrera, Isla Lipana & Co. Chairman, the firm started from 175 destinations, which are gathered from their employees and online travel bloggers. They trimmed the list down to 50 and finally a screening committee created the finalist and agreed on a shortlist of 25 destinations.

Philippine Gems is done in partnership with the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board of the Department of Tourism and the University of the Philippines-Asian Institute of Tourism. These two, together with representatives from Fleishman-Hillard Manila, Management Association of the Philippines, travel blogger James Betia and media personalities Love Añover, Jing Lejano and Jose Javier Reyes were part of the screening committee
