The Henry Hotel: The King in the Queen City of the South

There's no doubt why Cebu was hailed as the Queen City of the South - with is delightful people, colorful history and truly delectable dishes, one thing that's left for me to call it my home sweet home in the south, and that is that perfect hotel! And last weekend, as I indulge to one of my few vices in life, I met the 'king' that completes my royalty-kind of vacation here in Cebu City - The Henry Hotel.

Formerly known as the House of Cebu, this hip and offbeat design hotel offers a unique and exquisite Cebu experience that will make you love Cebu and Cebuanos even more. Located at the northern district of Cebu City, a few kilometers from Cebu-Mactan Airport, this place has been my home sweet home for four days on my way to rediscover the colorful and vibrant Cebu life.

But before I make "inggit" you on my wonderful and super successful Central Visayas escapade, let me share to you first the lovely things I got to enjoy here at The Henry Hotel.

Located at the posh area of No. 1, Paseo Saturnino, Baranggay Banilad, 6000 Cebu City, The Henry Hotel is the only design hotel here in the city that offers an inspiring beauty that will make you appreciate local and international modern arts even more.

Surrounded by classy gimmick and relaxation spots like that of The Spa at Cebu, you will definitely find serenity in this cozy colorful place that you wouldn't expect from it on your first sight. I was honestly wowed upon entering the place and finally meeting this red bald man! Hihihi. I've been eyeing this place for months since I'v heard of it, and finally, a dream of mine has just came true.

So, okay, upon checking myself in to The Henry Hotel's Large Room, I was guided by one of their receptionist, who happily shared some info about the place. And here's what I got...

The hotel, which is formerly known as House of Cebu was re-branded some few months ago to its current name, The Henry or The Henry Hotel. Most of the pieces here are imported and were carefully selected and designed to give that around-the-world feel. It was the love for the arts and of Cebu that brought this place up and it is now enjoyed by mostly international tourists, mainly businessmen who need a break from their what I call "dull" work. The Henry Hotel is now under the good management of Hospitality International Inc., who is also the team behind the beautiful CrossWinds Resort Suites in Tagaytay City, The Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences in Makati City, Ramada Manila Central in Manila City toname a few. From House of Cebu to The Henry Hotel, this place is somehow 2 years old, so everything is still new, fresh and without a doubt stylish.

Things along the way

Upon checking in at Room 302, I was welcomed by those sites that already made me feel at home. The place is far from what I have in my room at home, but I know that I'll be at home the moment I laid my back on the soft bed that I have in this room and smelled its nice and clean bedding - seriously, it was too comforting that I wouldn't wanna leave my bed anymore. And this is by far, the best bed I experienced in a hotel, even if I compared this to the other hotels you could find here in Metro Manila.

The Henry Hotel has categorized their beautiful and truly unique rooms in to four categories, from Big, Large, X-Large up to XX-Large, there's definitely one that fits to your need may you be on a solo travel, with special someone, with friends or even with family. The prices vary too, and luckily, this summer, they have special discount to those who are gonna book early, so feel free to see their Facebok Fan Page - The Henry Hotel.

Big Room

with 32 inch LCD TV, DVD player and the bathroom comes with a rain shower)

Large Room
(42 sqm of individual space, one king-size bed, up to 2 persons,
with 32 inch LCD TV, DVD player and the bathroom comes with a rain shower)

X-Large Room
(72 sqm of individual space, one king-size bed, up to 2 persons,
with 32 inch LCD TV, DVD player and the bathroom comes
with a rain shower, double sink and some of the rooms with pedestal bathtub)

XX-Large Room
(108 sqm of individual space, two king-size bed, up to 4 persons,
with 32 inch LCD TV, DVD player and the two bathroom
comes with one with double sink and pedestal bath tub)

I know the rooms are all captivating and really heart-melting, but did you know that the bathrooms are equally beautiful, which give this modern approach that you'll also love - I love my bathroom when I stayed here even if it has no door! Hahahaha!

The love, right? Well, here in The Henry Hotel, aside from those luxurious and world-class rooms, guests can also enjoy some of the amenities that are currently available. There's a swimming pool, perfect to add more fun to your stay here, they also offer free yoga class in the morning for those who are into fitness and well-being, and the Rica, which is the in-house cafe that serves hearty breakfast to the guests of of this vibrant place.

A choice from plated Filipino, Western and American breakfast is available upon taking a seat to this equally popping modern art place here in The Henry. I personally loved the Filipino Breakfast, because that garlicky bangus was cooked really nicely and gave me that homey feel that I always enjoy.

For those who love going out at night, one hot spot for you to check out when you are in Cebu City is this place called Scrapyard, and yes, it is just located on the second floor of your hotel, so you won't be missing the best of the bests when you stay here in The Henry.

The Scrapyard Bar

According to the cab driver that drove me one time, my place is one of the classiest place in town, and he was actually shocked upon knowing that the price of staying here was just like that. I even told him that with the breakfast like that, which comes for free upon checking in, it is already enough for me to recommend this place to my family and friends when they visit the Queen City of the South.

But did you know that the best part of my stay here is these little notes that shared this personal touch of Cebu, of Cebuanos and of The Henry's? I really appreciate these and will never forget them because I find them really cute and touching at some point. I know that most of the hotels have these kind of style, but the way they say it, it depicts how lovely the Queen City of the South really is, and how caring its people to their guests - a royal treatment that I will never get tired of experiencing over, and over again! :-)

Stay tune on Rammmpa for more stories of my great Central Visayas adventure!!!

Thank you so much, Cebu, for this unforgettable and outstanding adventure you shared to me! Everything was perfect, all because The Henry Hotel, which I now call the King of the Queen City of the South, inspired me to the fullest!

Thank you so  much, The Henry Hotel! I will definitely go back! Muah!
