Tunog Natin: Himig ng Kalayaan 2012

Makati made it again! Thanks to its key sponsor, Ayala Land Inc. and Avida Land Corporation, their first day of early Philippine Independence Day celebration was a success!

Last night, live at Ayala Triangle Gardens, just before everyone starts their weekend, Makati City, together with Ayala Land and Avida Land Corporation brought up a nationalist, all-Pinoy treat to the workaholics of this developed city.

With some performances from Banda Kawayan and Balagtasayawit, the unveiling of this, probably, 15 feet Philippine flag, which is actually made of "banig" or hand woven mat, marked the start of this two-day grand Independence Day celebration.

Nationalist personalities like Kuya Efren Penaflorida, 2009 CNN Hero of the Year, was also spotted joining the festivity as well as giving opportunities to people who wanna have a picture with him. Hehe! He is such a cool guy, really!

Highlighting the night was a concert, an all-OPM concert, which is part of the advocacy of Avida Land Corporation - the Tunog Natin.

Now, on its sixth leg, Tunog Natin has been sharing the gifts of our OPM artists by giving a free concert like this to all. And last night, OPM household names like Myrus, Princess Velasco, Duncan Ramos, Bituin Escalante, Noel Cabangon and Ima Castro graced the night giving one heart-warming, nationalist show.

An all true-blue Pinoy music night making us so proud, relaxed and happy all at the same time.

Myrus and Princess Velasco

Duncan Ramos and Bituin Escalante

Noel Cabangon and Ima Castro

I was able to capture some of their numbers, so feel free to watch them below and relive that magical moment when you first heard of these hit OPM songs. :-)

I honestly didn't know that it was Ima Castro who sung "Shine" first, and Regine Velasquez's version is just a revival. Either way, both renditions are good, and I love them both now. :-)

Aside from these six well-known OPM artists, Makati's very own Rico J. Puno and daughter-Councilor Tosca Camille Puno-Ramos also joined the festivity, and happily rendered some songs that made the crowd more happy.

Sadly, with Mr. Puno's songs and voice, they reminded me of my lost father whom I've been missing so much lately. But other than that, it is still my great pleasure to see them both on stage because Councilor Tosca's voice was so lovely.

Thank you guys!

Congratulations to Makati City for being one strong and beautiful city here in the metropolis, and thank you to Ayala Land and Avida Land corporation for coming up with such a great Independence Day  idea like this!

For those who missed this day and still wanna check out what's in store for you tomorrow, you can check out my previous blog "Early Independence Day Celebration at Ayala Triangle Gardens" or you can check it for yourself tomorrow at Ayala Triangle Gardens. Fun and excitement start at 10 in the morning!

Happy Independence Day to all Pinoys out there!
Mabuhay po tayong lahat! :-)
