With a title Turista-ra Na! "Lakbay-Turo para sa Micro-Tourism Enterprise", a series of seminars featuring renowned source speakers and retail specialists will share their knowledge and expertise in best retail practices, innovations and tools necessary to build up these micro businesses all over the country.
On its media launch that I got to attend, DoT Secretary Alberto A. Lim told us that this a true social initiative in making sure grassroots retailers in these tourist areas will have an up-to-date knowledge on the latest trends and practices a micro business owner should know.
Secretary Alberto A. Lim
Sec. Lim also shared that tourism helped accelerate the retail industry last 2010 with 27% of tourists spent money by shopping and with this, the retail industry grew by 12% from 5.5% of 2009.
Also present at the event were Vice Chairman of Philippine Retailers Association Ma. Alegria S. Limjoco and Vice President for Tourism of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Samie Lim.
Goodluck to DOT in increasing the number of tourists in the Philippines! Hope they'll come up with programs that would also benefit Filipinos who would love to tour the country as well. Kudos to DOT!
