The Night I Become a Sing-vestigator at Hotel Jen Manila’s Open Mic with a Twist

Since it aired on local television, the Philippine version of the international mystery music game show, I Can See Your Voice, has been a weekend habit for the entire family and me. We guess and laugh together as we watch six contestants vie to be named as the day’s singer.

For those who haven’t seen an episode of this show, it’s goes like this: The show consists of one Host, one Player, six Singers and six Sing-vestigators. There are six ordinary people, some can carry a tune (SEE-ngers) and some are tone-deaf (SEE-ntonado). In every game, the numbers of SEE-ngers ang SEE-ntonado varies. A Player, which most of the time  is a recording artist, must eliminate the SEE-ntonado based on visual clues until he is left with what he believes is a SEE-nger. This SEE-nger will have a duet with the Player and will receive Php25,000 as prize. In the Philippines, I Can See Your Voice is hosted by Luis Manzano and features a panel of celebrities (Sing-vestigators) who will provide a running commentary to help the Player in his choices.

The Player and the Singers

During the “Mic Challenge with a Twist”, Hotel Jen Manila’s latest an experiential program under one of Hotel Jen’s passion points ‘After Hours’ which celebrates after-dark activities that guests can do, guests that have a great time playing or singing along with the day’s “SEE-ngers and SEE-ntonados”.

The Sing-vestigators

For its pilot where I was one of the lucky guests who experienced the game first hand, I never thought that being one of those witty Sing-vestigator would require a lot of sweat and bad decision. Hahaha! Despite of my background to live bands, I never expected that it’ll be that hard to guess who is the “SEE-nger”. Luckily, as the game starts to roll and our beautiful player, managed to pick and miss the correct singers, the night ended with victory as we were able to get the right singer of the night.

During the event, guests were able to enjoy the new flavors and enticing dishes from the Lobby Lounge’s including Beef Shawarma, Sriracha Wings, Spicy Gambas, Baby Back Ribs, Pork Sisig, Fries and Nachos Frescas.
