Meeting the Pillow Man
Ever wonder how one of our favorite things in the whole wide world is being made? Well, right now, I can’t really get into exact details, but knowing the man behind one of the most in-demand pillow brands in the Philippines, I can’t help but to share how I enjoy meeting this man who enjoys his work and the wonderful products that he creates for everyone
Mr. David Lim, the General Manager and Owner of Fibrefill Manufacturing, Inc., which office is located in JG Building, C. Raymundo Ave., Maybunga, Pasig City and its factory in Sandoval Ave, San Miguel, Pasig City, was very pleasant when I met him at the Hotel and Suppliers Show in SM Convention Center in Pasay City last September 22.
There's nothing much about him that day aside from the fact that he sells pillows and its stuffing, but when he politely grant an interview with me and shared some time to sit down with me to discuss his products and how it all started and grew, I must say that I have so much respect to this man now.
According to him, they started as a supplier of nonwoven materials and stuffing in the Philippines. It was in 1990 when his company started supplying these kind of materials in different companies.With their strong belief that every business must innovate, after a few years, they are supplying pillows to large department stores and hotels in the country. "We saw the opportunity when one of our big clients asked how come we're not selling pillows if we were the ones who are supplying the stuffing. And from that, the rest is history," he happily added.
"From a single line of machine to 5 lines of machine producing variety of nonwoven products, I'm proud to say that our products are dominating supply materials in different furniture industries, garments, automotive carpet, stuffed toy manufacturers, hotel and home linens, comforter makers and others," he noted.
On their booth at the Hotel and Suppliers Show, Mr. Lim showed us the wide variety of their products they currently have. From the cushions used on sofas, Fibrefill is also the manufacturing company behind the pillow brand Select Comfort, which now offers memory foam and throw pillows. He is also proud to share some of the items they are supplying to metro's top hotels and department store that are primarily used to give comfort bit without sacrificing the quality.
And if you think that all they have are for home use only, Fibrefill is also into automotive carpet interior and matting and geotextile that are commonly used for road construction reinforcement.
Another inspiring thing about Fibrefill is its Corporate Social Responsibility where they strongly believes in promoting a healthy environment and social well-being. Currently, Fibrefill conducts D'Soft Spot Project where they provided pillows to their chosen beneficiaries such as Pasig City General Hospital and Pasig City Children's Hospital.
Apart from supplying comforting pillows, Fibrefill is also into environment conservation. And just last February, together with the students of Hecen Antipolo, Fibrefill sponsored these students activity on promoting awareness on the conservation and preservation of Tungtong River in Taytay, Rizal.
Right now, Fibrefill envisions to grow bigger. And with a proper channel and support from the government, the company wishes to employ more people from its own community to help everyone.
Fibrefill products are currently available in SM Department Stores, All Home, Ever Gitesco Mall, KCC Mall, LCC Mall, Landmark, NCCC Mall, Puregold, Robinsons Department Store, and Shopwise.
