The National Artist goes Digital

In this age of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, it wouldn't be a surprise to see a young kid taking his or her selfie using his or her latest smart phone. But knowing that the National Artist for Visual Arts has collaborated with one of the top digital brands in the world, this must be something big and a must-see.

Last September 30, Samsung Electronics Philippines, together with Yuchengco Musem, tie up to bring the latest masterpiece of National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto Cabrera or popularly known as BenCab. Paying tribute to BenCab's 50th year as an artist, the exhibit, which is entitled "BenCab in Two Movements," will be on view at the museum from October 01, 2015 to January 16, 2016

Through Samsung’s latest gadgets - the SUHD and UHD TV, Samsung Tablet and Samsung Galaxy Note 5, BenCab in Two Movements shares a curatorial information on shared art experiences between a painter and a dancer. With the use of  Samsung Smart TV and mobile gadgets and apps, the exhibit gives an interactive experiences that are both artful and enjoyable. With digitized works from BenCab’s sketchbooks, a museum visit is now fun, informative and exciting.

The exhibition highlights BenCab’s handpicked works he created to capture the dance movements of London-based Chinese dancer San Lee, and Polish dancer and choreographer Paulina Wycichowska.

There's a section where in just one tap on the tablet, the series of sketched art of a dancing woman by BenCab will move and sway along; there's also a section where guests can actually perform the exact dance movement; and there's the exciting section where guests can be a part of BenCab's art pieces by adding their personal artistry to BenCab's sketches through digital coloring and placing a personal note for the renowned National Artist for Visual Arts.

Through Samsung's state-of-the-art technology, BenCab in Two Movements was seen clearly and  more precise. The Samsung’s SUHD and UHD TVs have a re-mastering engine that delivers an unrivaled viewing experience by analyzing the brightness of images to minimize additional power consumption while expressing ultimate contrast levels. This produces images with much deeper blacks and an elevated brightness 2.5 times brighter than conventional TVs and twice the color adjustment points for the most accurate color display.

The SUHD and UHD TVs also feature Smart TV functions powered by Tizen, giving viewers easy access to their favorite content. These functions took the center stage at the digital exhibit that delighted museum audiences.

Another highlight of the night is the unveiling of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 BenCab Limited Edition, a true weapon of art that underscores the seamless convergence of art and technology. This comes with a specially designed box, an art booklet, and a customized hard case.

Congratulations and Thank you, BenCab, Samsunng and Yuchengco Museum for this wonderful collaboration!
