#BensimonDIY - Doing It My Way!

"Art doesn't strive for perfection. It's in the imperfections." - Bensimon

When was the last time you got so crazy about your sense of style that you cut your pants, painted your shirt of even dye your shoes? For an artist wannabe like me, it’s actually a common thing. Yep, I did cut my pants, added some scratches, cut my shirts too to make it look cooler and just recently at the Bensimon DIY Day, I dyed my shoes, painted it a bit and voila! Look at my new artsy Bensimon shoes!

At Common Thread, Power Plant Mall in Makati City, a great number of artists and wannabes like me trooped to the store for the very first Bension DIY Day. A number of metro’s style and fashion bloggers together with some models and celebrities spent an afternoon of creativity in recreating an artistic and personalized Bensimon shoes.

With a light brown Bensimon shoes assigned to me, the moment I got there, I already saw some familiar faces getting busy with their own pairs of Bensimon. I, though clueless as the first few minutes, since Common Thread is a haven for creativity too, spent no more thinking and just let the creativity in me poured out.

"Bensimon bears its Parisian heritage proudly. But by using traditional art materials - paint, glitters, markers, stamps, bleach, ribbons - Bensimon wants to inject the personality of its wearers as well," says Ammiel De Leon, Bensimon Philippines’ Brand Director.

The price ranges from Php2,095 to Php2,565 for the men's and women's line and Php1,295 to Php1,795 for the kids’ styles.

TV personality and travel blogger Patty Laurel, MTV VJ Maggie Wilson, TV host Walter Demesa, model Brent Javier, and model and TV host Karen Pamintuan graced the gathering and presented by artistic side by designing their own Bensimon pairs.

I must say, these people are nothing but a creative ball ready to explode anytime!

Through the years, Bensimon has made the elusive Parisian aesthetic accessible by elevating sneakers into the fashionable staple it is today. And as it continues to put the spotlight on its subtle brand of style, expect it to grow a steady local following that - like all wardrobe classics - stand the test of time.

You can design your own Bensimon shoes too!
