PBA Season 39 opens with myDSL

Simultaneously broadcasting in SMART Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, New Cebu City Coliseum in Cebu City and  University of the Southeastern Philippines Gym in Davao City, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) opens 2014 Philippine Cup with PLDT myDSL. Shown all over the country via TV5, as the official home network, the 39th Season started last Sunday, November 17.

The opening ceremonies was brought to us by PBA and PLDT who committed to broaden its support to the country's premier cage league as part of its thrust to promote sports excellence through basketball.

Atty. Chito Salud
PBA Commissioner

And last Sunday, opening the show here in SMART Araneta through a laser light show, the Cebu show opened with a Sinulog number while the Davao show was opened with a Kadayawan number. It was not one of the ordinary spectacle we see in a PBA opening, but I enjoyed so much more.

After that, PBA honored some of its former players and coaches through PBA Hall of Fame. This season, PBA give honors to league pioneer Lim Eng Beng, late coach Ed Ocampo together with PBA Stars Ronnie Magsanoc and Benjie Paras.

And in line with the opening of the new season, PBA also presented this season's team along with its players and muses that added glitz and glam to the country's most watched cage of Filipino athletes. Among the muses that made the guys swoon are Gretchen Ho, Laureen Young, Isabel Oli and Marian Rivera.

Right after the opening rites in SMART Araneta, the PLDT myDSL PBA Philippines Cup commences with two of the league's most watched teams, the Barangay Ginebra Kings and San Mig Coffee Mixers, while in Cebu, Meralco Bolts and Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters went head to head. And in Davao, Alaska Aces battle it out with Rain or Shine ElastoPainters.

PBA games will be simulcast also on AksyonTV live very Wednesday and Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.; Saturday games at 3:30 p.m. and on Sundays starting at 3 p.m. You can also follow the games on DZSR Sports Radio 918AM. Viewers in Guam, North America, Middle East and Europe can catch the games on AksyonTV International.
